A few things. First off I changed up formatting by adding cool little text box thingies (forget the "technical" name for them). Second off, here's something new I'd like to introduce: community input!
If I missed a game you really want coverage on then simply send your write up to me (via PM). If it's good enough and follows proper formatting I'll add it here with credit to you! Check the "Other Releases" section at the bottom and see the bolded games to see what games I would want write ups for but am not all too qualified to do myself
Hadrian has also made his own thread akin to these after a long hiatus from the Games of the Week threads. You can read it here and I highly suggest you do.
Overall though, a fantastic month with plenty of variety and high quality games.

Wii Party
Developed by: NDCube
Published by: Nintendo
Release date: October 3rd (America), October 7th (Australia), October 8th (Europe)
Genre: Party
My Hype Level: A genre more dried than a raisin
GBAtemp Hype Level: It's a Nintendo game, who knows

So Mario Party kinda died a while ago. Mini games just started running out of any type of fun and by the time the Gamecube ones were out the steam was getting lost. So with Mario Party 9 proving that Mario Party truly seems to have lost it's fun, what did Nintendo do? Take out Mario! This just looks like another Mario Party game except with Mario, meaning we'll just see more boring mini games and a lack of excitement. Might be worth pulling out for a party just to try but it's still seeming very boring.

Kirby's Epic Yarn
Developed by: Good Feel
Published by: Nintendo

Genre: Platformer
My Hype Level: Definitely worth a try
GBAtemp Hype Level: It's fucking Kirby!

Kirby really needs a good new game, seeing as he's joining Star Fox and others in what seems to be Nintendo's "forgotten characters" bin. With Epic Yarn announced and looking pretty strong, this may be it. Sure, it may lack some of that classic Kirby "float and suck" gameplay but it could just be an excellent platforming game, which is good enough for me.

NBA Jam

Unfortunately I haven't tried a NBA Jam game yet, but this still looks promising. From the art style to over-the-top presentation it looks like a game that's worth trying. I was a bit worried when I heard about it going "non-exclusive" but luckily the Xbox 360/PS3 versions are just watered down pack-ins with NBA '11. So the Wii game is still going strong as an "exclusive".

Maybe I've been too hard bent into 80's music by my dad's love of it, but I like the tracklist. Compared to how mediocre I thought Warriors of Rock looked, this looks like the Rock Band to beat Rock Bands. That being said, I probably won't be trying it for a while. I simply don't have the money to buy the whole set of instruments and there's many other things I'd buy before that. Maybe Christmas will be good for it.

Sengoku Basara: Samurai Heroes
Developed by: Capcom

Well, I haven't heard much of Sengoku Basara as a series until the third one was recently released in Japan, but from what I've heard it's a "stylish" combat game kinda like Devil May Cry, which seems cool enough to me. Hopefully it'll take a good direction with using (or not using) motion controls. For the record, No More Heroes and MadWorld were both good way to do combat on the Wii.

Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II
Developed by: LucasArts
Published by: LucasArts
Release date: October 26th (America), October 27th (Australia), October 28th (Europe)
Genre: Action
My Hype Level: Waggle fest but worth playing
GBAtemp Hype Level: Xbox 360 or PS3 versions instead

The first Force Unleashed on the Wii wasn't bad, but it was still just "throwaway entertainment". You pick it up when there's nothing else to do, play it once, and probably never touch it again. The Wii version also had all the flaws of the other versions plus a bunch of waggling to do, often being cited as the most waggle-heavy Wii game out there. I'm really hoping they put some serious effort into this sequel, fixing the problems throughout all the versions and making the Wii version less of a motion controlled gimmick. I liked the concepts introduced by the first game, I surely hope this makes them live up to their potential.

I just don't like DJ Hero. For all the cash you're paying it's still a one player game and two players costs another big chunk of cash. At least a Rock Band set is 2+ people support off the get-go. Not to mention rap music is just not my style at all. I'll pass on this one, especially since I don't have a peripheral.

Rock of the Dead
Developed by: Epicenter Studios

Genre: Musical Rail Shooter
My Hype Level: Game of the year
GBAtemp Hype Level: What?

Boxart appropriately sized much appreciated.
I posted some news about this months and months back, but this looks fucking awesome. What do you get when you combine Guitar Hero, Typing of the Dead, Neil Patrick Harris, and Rob Zombie in a video game? You get this, a zombie rail shooter where you slay your foes with the power of musical notes. I'm severely hoping this game is released and not pushed into vaporware, but if it isn't, expect me to be picking up a guitar peripheral and perhaps even buying this game.

Sid Meier's Pirates!
Developed by: 2K Shanghai

GBAtemp Hype Level: Not sure if a lot even know what Pirates! is

Boxart appropriately sized much appreciated.
Pirates! has already come to the Xbox and PSP, as well as having the Xbox version put up for sale on the Xbox 360 Marketplace, but a Wii version can't hurt, right? Pirates is just incredibly open world, giving you a ship and the freedom to do whatever you want basically. Raid other ships, engage in trade, attack towns, all done through a bunch of mini games. For some it may seem a little too open but to others it can be quite addicting.

This series just needs to die.

Super Mario Collection Special Pack

Genre: Platformer
My Hype Level: Might as well just throw Super Mario All-Stars on an emulator

It's basically just a rerelease of Super Mario All-Stars but for the Wii and with some small goodies. Not really interested and it's just a limited Japanese release. Mario fanatics will probably import a copy but for me I'm just happy playing Super Mario All-Stars on an emulator. Or playing the GBA versions of Mario 1, 2, 3, and World.

Overall Summary
It's looking good. For me, Rock of the Dead is the game to look out for, but Kirby's Epic Yarn and NBA Jam are also to be on the lookout for. Rock Band 3 looks great, if out of reach, while Sengoku Basara and The Force Unleashed look like some fun hacking and slashing. Wii Party and DJ Hero 2 top my "yawn" list while Just Dance 2 just pisses me off.
Next month is first person friendly! Goldeneye 007 finally drops and Call of Duty: Black Ops provides some more CoD action for CoD fans. A new Raving Rabbids game also may give some goofy party gaming. The big toppers here though are Epic Mickey and Donkey Kong Country Returns. Worms: Battle Islands also looks like a worthwhile Worms game for the Wii.
Have a nice October!

- No flaming. If I list a game you don't like, too bad. If I don't, too bad.
- This is mainly North American releases, sorry. I'll, on occasion, do a European or Japanese release if it's big enough and not already out in America.
- If a game is already released in English and is being released again for another region, I won't bother adding it. Like say if Duke Nukem Forever was out in America in April (it won't) and it came out in May in Europe, I won't list it for May. I'll also do the same if a game was released in English (aka Europe or America) and is being released in Japan.
- I get my dates from GameFaqs, Wikipedia, and IGN, so if a date is wrong don't blame me. You can, of course, point it out and ask me to fix it if you have the right date.
