I could not convert the image and simply being able to just download it on normal image extension like PNG or JPG

webp is a non-destructive format (if you wish). So it's pretty good! Google is developing it to more or less replace jpeg, png and gif.

There's no reason you can't do that with webp.

WEBPs (at least on my experience) don't have a normal image icon, but the web browser icon, it looks weird in the image library and some of them, for some reason, only open on the browser, not the image viewer, PLUS they won't upload to most of websites, they go "cannot read this uwu what is this", and it's even worse on smartphones.

It is annoying when someone posts one in the meme box or funny images thread, and instead of this site's download button actually downloading the image, it instead links you to an image host's page with the webp image on it, makes downloading it in a useful format (png) that other services understand into about a four step process.
