I know this is probably against tos if you´d used a vpn to buy games cheaper from other countries.

And i´m pretty sure you won´t get banned straight away, you could be just on vacation after all.

but what if you´re doing it regularily? did any of you get banned for doing this?

and does a ban mean you can´t access your legally acquired library anymore?

I'm pretty sure you can do this without needing a vpn. I got ikaruga from another country, because it was free. I didn't have to do anything as my account was detected, even though I'm in America.

not quite sure i understand what you´re saying there. i already tried to just access the store with different countries ips with my account just out of curiousity and the prices are the exact same every time. so i´m asuming you´re locked into the market where you first created your account.
so i´m further asuming you´d have to crete a new account with that cheaper countries ip and then purchase the code as a gift you then use with your actual account.

I've done it a few times and have had nothing come back from it. Most recently I tried to get Forza on a different region store that had a pricing error, and even then Microsoft just refunded the purchase after the pricing error was fixed. No kind of warning or ban on the account.

Only caveat is you need to use 'Urban VPN' to redeem. MS seems to have blocked the major VPN players. Its free for a week in the Apple app store.

Not necessary. you can freely download games from other regions. Your account should work on other region stores without issue.

I've done this a couple of times a few years ago for some games exclusive to Japan, never had any issues. I have always purchased the cd keys and then just redeemed on the Xbox site with a VPN.

Also done that with 3 years worth of Xbox Live and one months Game Pass Ultimate to essentially end up with 3 years of Gamepass Ultimate for approx. £90.

I think if Microsoft really cared they could make things a lot more difficult like in the Xbox 360 days. Back then games were region locked and if you were downloading from say the Japanese marketplace you had to start and finish the download with a Japanese IP address, otherwise the download would not start / corrupt when it was completed from an IP address outside the country.

I've done this for 3-4 years. No issues. Use a good VPN.

If you have a credit card from any country that does not have an official Microsoft Store, you can buy a gift card from the Microsoft Store directly:
You need to simply launch a VPN and connect to the VPN server of the country with cheap Xbox games, e.g. India, Brazil, or Turkey
Open an incognito tab in your browser
Google for Microsoft Store – you should be directed to the local version of this store where you can purchase Xbox gift cards in local currency

Long shot, but could somebody buy Biohazard RE:3 Z Version for me? It's 997 JPY on sale. Already tried with VPN, new account, old account with Gold MasterCard and with MS credit. Can't pass through region check.

@Jayro, I don't see whats so special about the DS ML, its just a DS lite in a phat shell. At least the phat model had louder speakers, whereas the lite has a much better screen.

They probably said "Hey, why not we combine the two together and make a 'new' DS to sell".

It's a DS Lite in a slightly bigger DS Lite shell.

    It's not a Nintendo / iQue official product, it's a 3rd party custom.

Nothing special about it other than it's more comfortable than the Lite

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.
  • AncientBoi @ AncientBoi:
    I don't pirate them, I Use Them :mellow:. Like I do @BigOnYa 's couch :tpi::evil::rofl2:

@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
