sorry, this isnt compatability but it wil be soon if someone can answer this

whats the easiest way to make a partition? i just want to make a partition on a 160GB 2.5" HDD. one for pc backup and one for wii crap. i dont think theres more than 40GB of PC that i want to backup and i heard that windows can only partition 40GB, so that'd be fine.

soon as i've done it i'll be able to shove the info on

thanks.

I always use Paragon Hard Disk Manager or Norton Partition Magic to create several partitions or convert FAT to NTFS or vise versa. But both aren't free as far as i know.

Vista can make partitions any size. Just made a 230GB partition with it.

Iomega Prestige Portable 500gb USB HDD.

Must be plugged BEFORE booting the Wii, otherwise USB Loader will give ret -1 (you'll have to shutdown the Wii, then boot and plug).

PROBLEM SOLVED: Using this dol forwarder solve the problem because it reboot the HDD while booting the USB Loader.

Everyone who get ret -1 occasionally should try the forwarder.

Not Working 90% of the time
Iomega Prestige 500 GB USB 2.0 Desktop External Hard Drive 34270

I tried plugging it in before starting the wii (while the LED was red) and the forwarder but neither worked and all the forwarders i've tried have given me a code dump. It just seems to work randomly

I think my post fits better in this thread.

I use a noname Usb Stick with 2GB (PConKey Model ED686Ro) and it did not work at first. The Usb Loader 1.1 showed the USB subsystem! (ret = -1) error.

Now I can use my USB Stick and it works like charm. I can reproduce the method so here's how it works:

1. Load Usb Loader (through HBC Channel) and look at the error message.
2. Now choose to Power Off your wii by pressing the Power Button on the remote. Normally your Wii should crash and show a Exception (at least it happens on my Wii)
3. Hard reset your Wii by holding Power Button on the Wii and reboot it
4. Start Usb Loader through HBC Channel
Now it works

This is how I do it right now. I know its very uncomfortabe but at least it works.
What im interested in, is if this works on somebody else. So please feedback if this method works at you, too.

Do I need to format the drive or try booting up a game with it before trying this?

I don't think so. I see *any* device plugged into USB, hard drive or not, formatted or not. Have a go at it, you shouldn't have any problems.
