A console would suck if the library is very weak, the controllers are crap, and the console is hard to function. In those aspects, I don't think the Wii U sucks. It's not the best of all time, and as a Nintendo fan, I can admit that. In comparison, N64 and SNES ticked all the boxes as far as library of games, awesome controller, easy to use console, great graphics, everything. Wii U's graphics are fine enough for me, and expected. If I want a more graphically beautiful game, I'd go for the other consoles, or PC. The Wii U gamepad is the worst part of the Wii. It's nice for uses outside of gaming, like browsing Netflix and such, and not using the Wiimote to type in search terms and such. Wii U probably would've been taken more seriously if they sold the gamepad as an auxiliary gimmick, rather than the focal point. The Wii U Pro comes as close to the GC Controller as their best one since SNES.
The library is lacking in quantity and quality as a combo. Quality is selective though, and I can only go by a few titles, as I haven't tried anything other than MK8, Bayonetta 1 and 2, and Super Smash Bros. Based on what I see, if a Wii U owner doesn't have those 3 titles, they must be hurting for something good by Nintendo. For me, I get enough enjoyment with the latter 3, and have yet to play MK8 for more than 40 minutes total. I will, and there's still Super Mario 3D World which came as a bundle, $290. How come there's no mention for downloadables/virtual console? Freaking Shovel Knight is a glorious game, granted I have only played 2 levels. If the new stuff isn't getting your rocks off, download a VC game. I have Legend of Zelda for example. There are Wii U games out now and coming down the pipeline that I will get, such as Star Fox Zero and the Zelda Wii U game, Yoshi's Wolly World. The system's not dead, but it's definitely in a holding pattern until NX info is posted.
Which is a bit lame because I only bought Wii U on December 2014, and a year from now, Wii U will be dead, everything will be about the NX. Then again, I have never played a console brand new, not many games brand new, I start late in the console race, always.
