'The Legend of Zelda' LEGO set reportedly in development

zelda.png

After rejecting Zelda-themed LEGO set ideas and banning such submissions on LEGO Ideas due to licence conflict, such an officially-licensed might be in the works. According to a report by prominent LEGO news leaker Promobricks, a number of unannounced LEGO sets are in development, including from the The Legend of Zelda franchise. The set is alledgedly a 2-in-1 set based on a setting featuring the Great Deku Tree and characters/pieces to build a setting based on either Ocarina of Time or Breath of the Wild.

The reported leaks come from participants of a paid survey which involved showing them LEGO sets and how much they are willing to pay for them. Based on a Google Translate of the German-language website Promobricks, the options were: Parts: 1920, Price range: $ 200 to $ 325, Most likely price: $ 250.

The images from said survey have found its way on Reddit and you can see them below:

While these news should be taken with a pinch of salt, would you be interested in such a LEGO set? If so, how much would you be willing to pay to purchase it?

The OoT one looks really cool

I would buy Lego sets if they were reasonably priced $20-40

But a couple hundred for mold injected plastic is ridiculous and I honestly don't understand how they continue to sell at that ridiculous premium

Because it's a premium product.

Yes, that is what I mean it's a ridiculous price

Like when you buy cologne for $500 because of its brand strength when it costs pennies on the dollar to make

I don't understand at all why people would pay this much money for injection mold mass produced plastic

At the risk of sounding like an advertisement, Lego bricks are forever. They are compatible with all their previous sets, and they last forever, the plastic doesn't melt or become brittle, the blocks are consistent, the tolerances are tight, the finish is perfect, I can take out my old sets and combine them with my kids' sets out of the box. Lego is a family heirloom. While the knockoff blocks are good for putting together once (may require some sanding and/or glue) and then stowing away somewhere.

And if you want the set as a display piece, products in that category cost way more than Lego sets, and are still just injection molded plastic.

I bought a knock off Lego Dragonite here in the states for $25

The pieces fit together just fine, and it looked just as good

Since the Lego patent expired generic Lego bricks have gotten pretty good

The patent to the concept and specs expired ages ago, Mega Bloks for example have been *cough cough* "compatible" for... decades (I'm old :wtf: ), this is not a new thing.
But what always tends to happen is that whenever a new company makes a name for itself for being cheaper but "almost as good" as Lego, and starts getting big, it either folds under the pressure of production of that scale, or its prices start to grow as well to the point where they're still technically cheaper than Lego, but by so little, a lot of people just opt for Lego instead.

Now how Play Doh justifies its price I will never know

AAAAAAANYWAAAAAAAAYYYY,

I hate the Mario sets because I thought they would have Mario and co. as standard minifigs, and environments to scale, but instead they gave us the electronic blocky monstrosity and the stupid sets and the million "powerup" packs that cost way too much for just a hat and a new sound effect.

(The Bowser set is cool.)

The Zelda set looks infinitely better. I hope it comes out.

I got the horizon set for Xmas and it was great for a few hours of entertainment, then I spent £80 on the sonic set out of my own money and realised after building that this was junk, it has little resale value and after its built it does nothing. I can't justify buying anymore, it's just a massive waste of money

I never got the Lego hate. I've always enjoyed building and displaying the few models I do have. Price is comparable to those anime figures I see every now and then and you get the benefit of both building it and displaying it without looking like a pervert.

Back to the post; I've wanted Zelda sets for years! I hope this is real and that it leads to more in the future. I would love a Hyrule Castle set.

Edit: I saw someone in the Reddit thread mention clock town and now I want that so bad.

That'll be $3,000 in ten years thanks internet
That's not a whole lot. Folks who buy games, Lego, or whatever as an investment are gambling their money just as Crypto is gambling in itself.

There's no method to "get rich quick," it takes time.

@RedColoredStars, Never heard of it. Any good?

You control a kitten. You fall out the window and have to make your way back home. Solve some light puzzles, do cat things like knock stuff over and steal things, trip people up when theyre walking, pounce on birds, complete goals/tasks etc. in the process of getting back to your home.

@SylverReZ It's short but adorable imo. Im a HUGE cat lover. Can be completed in a couple of hours if just going for the main goals. But can be stretched out a good deal by exploring and doing everything there is to do and see.

So a man goes to the doctor because his boner wont go down. As he is laying in the hospital bed, with his thing propped up in the air, a fly is flying around and landing on the tip and bothering him, so he calls in the nurse. The nurse comes in, swats at the fly but can't quite reach it, so she climbs his boner to get better aim. After a few tries of swatting and sliding back down, she says sorry I cant get it. He says keep going, a few more tries, and I can shoot the fly down.
