The only way to get to Room 31 is by taking the Room 7 route at the beginning. Of course, to unlock Room 7, you have to get the Silver Key from Room 19 first.

I just checked to see which hats I'm missing and they are all from Secret Quest so I'm all good with hats from regular Quest 2. Just to confirm, the hats I'm missing are:
Light Blue Yoshi, Pink Yoshi, Barbara the Bat, 3 hats from 31, Ramen, Hibiscus, Tiny Top, Straw, Chef & Hatchet.

So weird... I'm about to beat it for 5th time. Guess I'll just start going back to the other rooms and collecting the other hats.

A Japanese wiki says the Dark Emperor must be beaten using 25 heroes or fewer to get the gold key to unlock 31.

I finally got the gold key last night using 98 heroes in the secret quest. I'm assuming it's 100 or less because last time I beat it using 102 heroes and I didn't get the gold key.

Thanks Yab and TUlrich2702. Looks like I'll need to drive around and get some more street passes at my local Gamestops, Targets, etc. I haven't been lucky enough to know anybody with a 3ds so no level 7's yet for me

Heres a strategy for the mini slime (Green slime)

Use pink magic. Then use a LV3 or higher hero. Pink magic makes your hero not flee until at least 1 hit is landed.

And here is a strategy for completing secret quest under 25 heros.

Spoiler

First: Get 300 coins (Use the clock reset trick)

Second: Hire the following Miis: Pink (Low level), Yellow (LV7), Blue (LV7) and a wandering hero. (23 coins used)

Now you can easily pass the first room.
Use a yellow lv7 hero to solo the second room
(STAY ON THE TOP PATH)
Blue hero for room 3.
Attack with wandering hero for 3 damage.
Attack with a LV7, finish ghost off with another.
Attack Blood Ghost with LV 7
Use the pink to get bottle of valour (31 coins used total)
Attack with the 2 LV7s to finish the Blood Ghost off.
Attack Golem with the LV7 (or both if you still have both),
Use the wandering hero to get the bottle of valour. (39 Coins used total)
Attack the Golem with a LV7 to finish it off
Use bottle to get rid of curse. (41 coins used total)
Attack with both LV7s to finish off Reaper
Use Pink Mii to cast Pink Magic
Kill slime with remaining LV7. Pink Magic Guarentees hit.
Attack Reaper with Remaining Heros.

--------Room: 24. | Heroes Used: 4--------

Hire a low level black hero, a LV7 white, a LV7 of any color, and 2 wandering heros. (25 coins used) (66 coins used total)
Use 1 hero to use a potion
Break the shield
Finish blue Ghost off with remaining LV7
Attack Reaper with LV7
Buy Bottle of Valour with wandering hero. (74 Coins Used Total)
Finish Reaper off.
LV7 gets scared off.
Use any remaining LV7s, if none, buy bottle of vailour (82 coins used total)
Finish off Mummys. Use bottles if necessary. (90 coins used in ideal situation. Usually 98)
Attack Golem. Dont use any bottles.

-----------Room: 32 | Heroes used: 9---------------

Get a low leveled red hero, a LV7 white, a LV7 red, and a wandering hero. (23 coins used. 121 total)

As usual, same strategy. 3 bottles should be used (145 coins used total)
MAKE SURE YOU HAVE 2 RED HEROES AND ANOTHER HERO WHEN YOU KILL THE GOLEM
Put out the fire.

--------Room: 33 | Heroes Used: 13 ----------------- RESTOCK YOUR COINS TO AT LEAST 250 AGAIN AT THIS POINT.

A low leveled Mii, a LV7 White, another LV7, and a wandering hero. (23 Coins used total)

Get back to the same old strategy.. Make sure you lead with a wandering hero or your low leveled Mii so it gets scared off instead of your attackers.
3 to 4 bottles should be used. ( 55 Coins used total)
White room put out.
Bottle Heroes back (63 coins used total)
Undo Curse cloud with a LV7
Attack with the other one.
Bottle (71 coins used total)
It should take 4 bottles to finish this room (103 coins used total)
Same strategy next (5 to 6 bottles should be used) (151 coins used total)
Same strategy again (7 Bottles should be used) (207 Coins used)
Attack with remaining Miis.

-----Room: Final | Heroes Used: 17----------- RESTOCK COINS TO AT LEAST 150 JUST IN CASE. (Though you shouldn't need more than 90)

Hire a low level orange Mii, 2 LV7s, and a wandering hero (23 coins used)

Use orange magic
Attack with 2 LV7s
Buy Bottle (31 Coins total)
Repeat 6 more times (79 Coins total)

You are now done.

Hey, I beat Find Mii 2 Secret Quest today for the first time and I got the gold key, without first getting the silver key. I also had used 104 heroes throughout, so I agree with Yab, you have to beat the dark Lord with less than 25 miis to get it (which I did).

I have a quick sketch of a quick playthrough concept.
Its messy but ill uplaod it.

Top Right shows the order you do it in. The paths are highlighted with the corresponding colour.

I marked on the map some specific things.
YS= Yellow Shield
LBS=Light Blue Shield
BWS=Black White Shield
2Y=2 Yellows Needed
2Blue=2 Blues Needed
2Red=2 Reds needed
1WT= 1 white needed.


Edit: also, rooms you get hats (on forked paths) are noted by underlining them on the playthrough's colour.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. I could do that, just any other way that would save time would be much appreciated.

Also, thanks to someonewhodied for the map, I hate it when you spend coins on a bunch of level 7s and then get to a room where you need a specific colour. This solves it!

Im getting 100 coins on average a day just by walking between classes and resetting my clock to 23:59 daily. This is still taking forever though.
