Hardware Should I buy the wii u over ps4 and Xbox one?

Super Mario 3D World has sold more sales than all the games I've listed combined for a console that most people consider dead lol Chances of them making another Sly Cooper or Ratchet, or Jax is very slim due to horrible sales. Super Mario 3D World sales aren't that bad compared to other 3D Mario games either but Sly, Ratchet, and Jax are like 5-10x less sales with the new games.

Also if you are going to use Japan's sales why not look at US sales since Super Mario 3D World sold just as many as Super Mario Sunshine's week one sales only short like 40,000.

Yeah but I'm talking about Sony actually have exclusive that are on Mario's level. I would never say that Thieves of Time is on par with Super Mario Galaxy by a long shot. Seeing as though most of those games haven't made a true sequel I would still say things look rather grim for them making an appearance this generation. Sly only got 1 game, Jax got 0, Ratchet got 4 so we will likely see him but the rest are looking like a no show.

Just like the PS4 does in conjunction with a PSVita, rendering it a far superior deal. That, and not all games support "Off TV Play" anyways in both cases.

Meaning loads since as far as I remember, the Kinect was pretty succesful. I remind you that this is not a PSP Remote Play sort of deal - all PlayStation 4 games will be streamable to the PSVita unless they use the PlayStation Eye. I get your point though, nobody's going to get a PSVita just for Remote Play, but there are other factors in play here, for example Instant Game Collection.

For what is worth I'm always one gen behind. Only recently bought myself a PS3. Dirt cheap and included 6 AAA games.

The only reason why I bought a 3DS XL a couple of days ago was because I spotted a fw4.2 for sale, otherwise I would have waited until Nintendo released the next big thing.

But answering your question, if I had to choose between the Wii U, the Xbox One and the PS4 I would definitely go for the PS4. I would probably pick the Wii U over the Xbox One. TBH the only time I got excited with an Xbox was with the 1st gen and only because you could play Sega's Shenmue.

And if you need to play other games that dont releases for the Wii U so would I recommend a Win 8 PC or the Xbox One, because Win 8 is lovely, it boots faster then win 7 it IS faster then Win 7 and its Awesome XD.

It's not like Spyro 3 was leagues better than Super Mario 64 and still holds the crown of being one of the best 3D platformers to date. I'm just saying Mario has always been the "king" of platformers when it was bested by PSX platformers and Sunshine was garbage.

Also if your big selling point on a console is 3D platformers solely then I dunno, expand your pallet. Maybe you'll get a good 3D platformer (admittedly the PS3's 3D platformer outing was pretty lackluster) but you'll pretty much get shat on everything else (minus maybe 2D platformers too).

Nintendo is good at making platformers but then they flop around on everything else.

Go for it if you have the money. I absolutely love 3D gaming on PS3.

I have yet to see 3D Wii U game, even though Wii U is capable of doing it.

If you want 3rd party support go with Sony/Microsoft.

if money is of no object, get a gaming PC. the library is PHENOMENAL. backwards compatibility galore for older titles… you can emulate nearly any PS2/Gamecube game in 1080p, you have access to old classics, you have MMO access, you will get the BEST version of next gen games.. not to mention you will also get the ability to mod every game.. in which case some mods can push games to the next level and double, triple.. even quadruple the time you can put into a title. games are also dirt cheap through steam if u don't mind being 6 months late to buying.


if u can't afford one, i'd go for a Wii U or PS3. Both consoles have an excellent library of games because the Wii U has the wii library and the PS3 in the last 4 years has just destroyed the 360 in exclusives.

I would not get a PS4 or XBOX 1 ATM given its lack of good games coming out which offer next gen experiences beyond 60fps/1080p.




The best setup IMO is a PC (steam) + Wii U + 3DS (gateway) + PSP (hacked).
If FF and KH don't see PC ports, then in 2016, a XBOX 1/Ps4 would be a good option… well PS4 given Naughty Dog would most likely have 3 quality titles on the platform by then.


last year's offerings: PC > 3DS > PS3 > XBOX 1 > PS4 > 360 > PS Vita

Just chiming in, but Kinect probably only did well, because it was bundled with the console (Not trying to argue any points, just randomly stating this). Also, I bought my Vita just for remote play (I was disappointed).

Also, I'm late, but earlier there was something about Monster Hunter and Xenoblade controls. As a player of both, Xenoblade played fine and Monster Hunter plays like poop no matter what kind of controller you have (The contents of the game make-up for it though).

On-Topic: Original poster, Definitely look at an upcoming games list (as I find it hard to believe you only wish to play Mario-like platformers forever) for each console. For now, I think Wii U is your best option. My PS4 and Xbox One are collecting dust right now, because the launch titles I got them for aren't launch titles anymore (Infamous ans Watch Dogs for PS4, Titanfall (I don't think this was ever a launch title) and Killer Instinct, which wasn't delayed, but I didn't care for it for Xbox One). Also, whoever said Ratchet and Clank, Sly Cooper, Jak and Daxter, etc. is like Mario, I disagree. While all of the former feel similar in gameplay fashion to each other (In my opinion), they feel quite different from Mario. If you mean Remote Play to the PS3, well d'uh, it's the same Remote Play protocol that's running on the PSP. If you mean PS4 Remote Play, it's subject to updates. As for the Kinect selling loads, it wasn't bundled with all XBox 360 units, just some select bundles. In any case, it was a pretty successful accessory, all things considered.

Also, whoever said Ratchet and Clank, Sly Cooper, Jak and Daxter, etc. is like Mario, I disagree. While all of the former feel similar in gameplay fashion to each other (In my opinion), they feel quite different from Mario. Of course they're "like Mario", they're all platformers. They're not direct clones, by no means, but they're not really supposed to.

Oh ok, i see your point makes sense. Since i guess the ps4 and xbox1 are mostly for shooter games and racing games. Although i would like to get KH3 and FF15. Are those games a system seller?

Yeas those games are system sellers. Why you think Microsoft paid to get ports for the Xbox One?
BUT those games wont be out anytime soon. Id say that FFXV will be out by the end of 2014 and KH3 on 2015.

On the other hand Wii U doesn't have Third Party support or just a few. So Wii U would be only for Nintendo games but those Nintendo games are more than enough to get the Wii U.

If you care more about the third party games srsly get a PS4(Yes even over the Xbox One) plus you'll get all the Sony exclusives. But both the PS4 & the Xbox One don't have Backward Compatibility something that the Wii U have so you could play all your Wii Games on the Wii U. Also on both the PS4 & Xbox One you need to pay to play online and on the Wii U is free but look what happened to the Nintendo Network on Christmas.
