I have done it. I hate it. It completely wrecks the whole reason I bought a Chromebook in the first place. It's snappy, quick, and just browses the internet.Wow, that is sad lol
Have you read up on installing Linux on it?

PCI-E? For HDD's? That sounds like such a waste of a port.3 versions,
IIRC the 2nd version only supports up to 300MB\s (theory) or something like that, the sata 2 is known as sata 300, while sata 3 is known as sata 600
you peasants still using sata ;O; pcie for life
if he is interested he probably can get a pcie card to use sata drives with the full speed. i am not sure if he will be able to boot from them easily tough...
Ahh yeah, almost forgot to list my iBook G4 as well!PPC Laptop:
Apple iBook G4 A1134
PPC G4 1.42 GHz
1.5 GB DDR
Zheino 64 GB SSD
OS X 10.5.8
not like a normal motherboard has 7 of them and people really only use 1 for the gpuPCI-E? For HDD's? That sounds like such a waste of a port.
He's referring to NVMe's that use a PCI-e bus. It's a completely separate port, and has speeds over 1500mb/sPCI-E? For HDD's? That sounds like such a waste of a port.
was talking about sonicMC saying his mobo only supports sata 2 that he could use a pci e to sata card if he wants a speed boost for his hdds\ssd but i am not sure if he was able to boot from them.. but they are great to put more sata ports in a pcHe's referring to NVMe's that use a PCI-e bus. It's a completely separate port, and has speeds over 1500mb/s
Which is like 10x faster than your average performance based HDD, and nearly 3-4x faster than most SATA SSDs.
amd phenom ii x3, 8gb ram, hd 5770, 2x4 gb ddr3. 2 256gb sata 3 ssd "mobo only supports sata 2 "

NVME samsung960 evo (pci express)
sad specs cuz:
intel meltdown\MUI bugs etc stuff (bought this stuff last year, and then this shit happened)
over paid for the ram.
only 1 gpu, doesn't mine a lot of criptocurrencies (however it runs games very weill but you can have the most powerfull gpu but that won't fix shitty coded\ported games)
old ass display that i am waiting for it to stop working to get an excuse to get a new one, until then this one is working and i am good with it
the samsung nvme was updated with the lastest buggy firmware that samsung removed from the website shortly and didn't fix\provided a downgrade (damn auto update)
and the sadest spec of them all: windows 10*
*windows 10 actually works wonderfully for me, have no issues, but it's a bad OS based on everyone's opinion
well i wanted the extreme edition processor and two titan xp, but had to settle for a budget build, plus its not water cooled, im shaming the pc master raceIf that's sad, I'm scared to think what you call good.... lol

this is actually sad, why do people buy sata m.2 drives for normal desktops :C
you have to consider the 2 1080ti's taking up most of the real estate in the pcie slotsthis is actually sad, why do people buy sata m.2 drives for normal desktops :C
for laptops\mini itx tiny builds its totally ok, but with all that stuff he got, didn't get a true nvme
(maybe he got a really nice deal or something)
like i just wrote earlieryou have to consider the 2 1080ti's taking up most of the real estate in the pcie slots
oh i meant the actual space to fit the nvme, each card takes up 2 slots 5 in total with the bridge nothing else can be plugged in unless i get a pci riser or something, prob when im ready to water cool and remove the gpu fanslike i just wrote earlier
no current gpu takes advantage of more than 8 pcie gen3 lanes. if ya interested send me a pm, and tomorrow i will get some videos explaining it further
either way, its a x299 chipset
the cpu alone has 28 lanes + the chipset lanes.
its more than enough, my cpu only has 16 lanes and it would be perfectly fine if i wanted to put 2 gpus+the nvme
the sata m.2 drives and the nvmes are physically the same size usually. (size of that drive is 2280, same as mine)oh i meant the actual space to fit the nvme, each card takes up 2 slots 5 in total with the bridge nothing else can be plugged in unless i get a pci riser or something, prob when im ready to water cool and remove the gpu fans
