I tried installing but i get this error.

I then noticed there is a change IOS screen on here so i changed to 249 so the screen froze. Im assuming this is because i not only have the incorrect IOS 58 but my IOS's from 200+ are all the Regular Wii's IOS.

I feel like i royally boned myself because I not only installed the incorrect IOS 58 but i proceeded to install the incorrect cIOS's as well.... Im an idiot and am being punished for being such a noob.... I wish is was able to do what Kender did and just install WADs from IOS 249/250/251 but i believe i installed the wrong cIOS's through the wads that got me into this mess. The only IOS's that i havent touched are the ones below 200. Are any of these vulnerable?

SmashStack
Homebrew Launcher, not the hackmeinstaller
Using the Wad Manager

Or maybe a better way? I made a mistake to install the 6175 version, so the HBC is no longer working and can't install it with HackMeInstaller (hang on scam screen)
Others things to do after reinstalled the oringal IOS58?
THanks for reply

Multi-Mod-Manager does a better job when it comes to Wads, especially arranging and managing em'.

IOS 58: Use NUS Downloader on a Windows PC and download and pack the IOS Wad. Then install!

So, how fucked up is your IOS 58 on your vWii?...

Nobody do this. This is literally what bricked the OP's vIOS 58

Edit: Luke, I get that you're trying to be helpful, but please, please, pleeeease research things before you just go and do them, for other's sake if not yours...

Ugh, that's how he got into this mess in the first place! He installed a normal IOS onto a vWii.

DO NOT FOLLOW THE ABOVE DIRECTIONS!

Your best bet now is to try updating from a Wii U game with the latest firmware. Hopefully it will detect the old version of IOS58 and install over it.

So i went to my local pawn shop and bought a used Wii U for 165$ (including taxes) to replace my old one. Luckily it came with a Wii Mote (w/ Motion Plus) and protectors for both controllers and im going to put custom firmware on here following guides to the T so i dont screw up my IOS's again. I would like to thank everyone who was directly involved in trying to help me repair my IOS. Let it be known to those who dont know what they are doing to not make the same mistake i did! DO NOT MESS WITH YOUR IOS'S UNLESS YOU KNOW 100% WHAT YOU ARE DOING! You all are quality ppl and i very much appreciate everything you all have done to walk me through this issue though it wasnt corrected, i know where i can come to in case I run against problems in the near future.

Why didn't you just buy a used Wii if your hard for playing wii backups? Then you don't need to F with your Wii U.

Probably wanted a fully functioning Wii U for the sake of having one

Jeremy Pettes Did you keep your old Wii U? If you did, leave it in storage somewhere and you have yourself a Homebrew Machine for when that comes out on the Wii U side later, since that Wii U can't be updated ;)

I was informed that i would no longer be able to update via my WII U considering my IOSs are all screwed and there's no way to fix. I bought a WII U in the case i wouldnt be locket out in the long run.

I can understand that.

I got 2 Wii U's and 2 Wii's, and would rather use the Wii for playing Wii stuff. Right now there is no brick recovery for the vWii, that's mostly why I don't use it much for Wii stuff.

I would have just purchased a regular wii if my wiiu would still have Complete functionality in the long haul. I dont want to have a shiny new game (xenoblade X) down the run and requires a disc system update to play and me no be able to update considering my wii u is screwed.

When you get that xenoblade X, update your malfunctioning Wii U with it, it just might fix it.

You should have just rented a new Wii U game and tried updating.

yall im torn... ive been hacking away at tales of phantasia GBA (the USA version) and have so many documents of reverse engineering i've done
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I just found out that the EU version is better in literally every way, better sound quality, better lighting, and there's even a patch someone made to make the text look nicer
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
Do I restart now using what i've learned on the EU version since it's a better overall experience? or do I continue with the US version since that is what ive been using, and if someone decides to play my hack, it would most likely be that version?
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
@TwoSpikedHands, I'll preface this with the fact that I know nothing about the game, but, I think it depends on what your goals are. Are you trying to make a definitive version of the game? You may want to refocus your efforts on the EU version then. Or, are you trying to make a better US version? In which case, the only way to make a better US version is to keep on plugging away at that one ;)
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
I'm not familiar with the technicalities of the differences between the two versions, but I'm wondering if at least some of those differences are things that you could port over to the US version in your patch without having to include copyrighted assets from the EU version
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
@Sicklyboy I am wanting to fully change the game and bend it to my will lol. I would like to eventually have the ability to add more characters, enemies, even have a completely different story if i wanted. I already have the ability to change the tilemaps in the US version, so I can basically make my own map and warp to it in game - so I'm pretty far into it!
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I really would like to make a hack that I would enjoy playing, and maybe other people would too. swapping to the EU version would also mean my US friends could not legally play it
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I am definitely considering porting over some of the EU features without using the actual ROM itself, tbh that would probably be the best way to go about it... but i'm sad that the voice acting is so.... not good on the US version. May not be a way around that though
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
    I appreciate the insight!
