Good evening,

Things are going well with the translation, considering I'm on holidays : I have done all the weapons names (although I might rename some of them later, depending on their effects and if they match the names I gave them).

Quite a few were inspired by Norse mythology, which I'm nowhere familiar with, but it was fun learning about these artefacts !

Anyway, I just published a little video of the work I've done so far, but please keep in mind there's still a lot to do!

Have a nice evening.

Thanks to Tom (RetroTranslator on Twitter) and his help on the non-subtitled videos, we'll be at least able to provide a translation of Zangeki no Reginleiv's end. (but for ingame cutscenes on the other hand... sorry but without subtitles we'll have to rely on benevolent professional dubbers!)

Oh, Tom helped? That's awesome, he has always done great work!

This project seems to go much faster, which is good.
Yes, I wasn't sure of my translation because I had no script to read, and could only rely on audio for the ending videos.

So I sent him a message to ask if he could watch the vids and tell me about what I got wrong, and he responded almost immediately!

A very helpful person he is.

About the general progress : it's true a lot of things have been already done, but I still have to do the weapons' descriptions, and there's more than a hundred!

On the other hand, I finished the story today so... I have a big feeling of accomplishment already. :grog:

Stay in tune for when we'll need beta testers !

Have a good night !

Boy, isn't redrawing the graphical resources a chore!

But once things are done, they turn out to be pretty nice. I'm using the "Uncial Antiqua" font for the chapters' titles, and I think it looks quite good.

Here are some of the last resources I modified, which gives me the occasion to unapologetically tease my audience. :shy:

Good to see this is going better and better. I'm not sure about the font you have chosen for the chapters titles. Some letters does looks good but a lot of other doesn't... the G is not very readable, the font mixes capital letters with lower case letters ("a" lower case, "R" capital...). The letter "D" from Dark is weird too.... and the letter "k" is just the same as the R butt with a larger stick... I think that font has too many drawbacks...

I agree with you. Overall the font seems to fit into the game but the letters you mentioned are looking really weird.
It's absolutely not a dealbreaker and it looks good nonetheless but a font that provides better readability would be a better choice in my opinion.

Yeah this font is great looking but the "g","d","k" and "t" look so much like "s","o","r" and "c", besides that i know this translation is gonna be amazing, keep up the good work i'm so excited to play this

Ah, you've made quite a lot of progress. l'm most impressed by the weapon text attack symbols since they cleverly keep it informative and organized. Also just some fun trivia, l found out recently that the game's writers must have used the old Norse language as reference for the names. It explains why some of the kana uses a z instead of a d in Midgard, for example. That means the original suggestion l had put out was half-wrong, half-right. So, l'm glad it looks like you used the regular names.

l also am very interested in seeing your options menu. The work l did feels very stiff and literal, so l'm curious to see if yours is more concise while keeping all the important details. Best of luck on your further endeavors, this will greatly help make the game more accessible!

Thank you very much for your message ! I'm still working on weapons descriptions (63 on 172 if I have to be precise), and have done quite a lot of graphical resources modifications so far.

Regarding the names, I wanted to both stay true to the original, yet make the game "familiar" to a Western audience when an anglicized version existed (for example it seems that "Wayland" the blacksmith is much more commonly used than "Volundr"), and even altered one name because of that (I mean, we probably all know "Hela" from the Marvel universe, when actually it's "Hel", but I kept "Hela" anyway).

As for the "options" part (thank you again for your work), please find below some snapshots (makes me realize the "calibration failed" message is too long, so I'll probably shorten it to "failed" I guess)

I think it would only be fair to make you a beta tester if you want and have the time, so let's keep in touch !

Have a nice WE.

Yeah. I should have the time to be a proofreader for the text, but l can't speak for my ability to play the missions proper. l got all the missions unlocked, and l should be able to find a way to craft the weapons, too.

Oh such a glorious day, the weapons description are all done!

Time to translate the credits and I should be able to beta test the story mode.

Nothing more to say, just wanted to share my satisfaction with you on that.

Have a good night!

PS : I notice Dolphin doesn't show the names of the weapons in the weapons tree, while they show perfectly fine on real hardware. Must be related to a Dolphin setting. Does anyone has a clue?

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.

@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
    +1
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:

still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
