Homebrew {Request} Can someone look into the FLOG Emulator? [Updated]

The only things I can think of are
1. It's a thing nintendo forgot to take out
2. The OP's dreaming (i barely remember my dreams after 1 second of waking up, so if op remembers all that detail, idk.)
3. The OP's a clever troll that did some research
4. It's a little easter egg
5. Since qlaunch and flog have the same titleid, instead of qlaunch being ran, flog ran.

qlaunch can run under these parts
  • Home menu
  • System Settings
  • News
so perhaps the switch bugged out a bit or lagged, and it tried to run qlaunch but instead ran flog after a bit. another case is perhaps the op exited from news or system settings really quickly and then made it freak out and launch flog instead
of qlaunch. i don't know how these things work so don't quote me on any of this
In most cases, if CPU fails to complete a operation, it just aborts it. So that's not likely the case.

I mean it's worth checking out, also I believe this to be an easter egg to launch under certain conditions.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

Ok update: I have never played NES Golf in my life, and I most definitely played it on the switch. I think the dream theory can be thrown out as the only game I had similar to NES Golf is NES Open Tournament Golf on my 3DS and there's no way I would know how the game even looks without actually looking up NES Golf. So I do not believe that this could have been a fever dream of this game, and this confirms to myself that this actually happened.

For what it's worth, there are no NES Roms anywhere in the console's NAND/etc where flog could access them, even if you somehow managed to launch flog.

Anyway, OP's a liar, move on, nothing to see here.

(Also, qlaunch and flog don't share a titleid, qlaunch (which is the home menu), contains code to launch flog that goes unused -- and even if it were used somehow there would be no NES roms anywhere for flog to load anyway).

I like how 99% of the people on here just say I'm lying but ok

This was reported on a while back, but the "flog" NES Emulator turns out to have a deeper meaning!

The emulator contains a version of golf on NES within the code. It's fully complete and everything. Even has support for two players!

The funny part is, the term "flog" is "golf" spelled backwards. Which adds to the description of the app!

Now, the interesting part is, the emulator might not actually be unused. According to plutoo, it could be an Easter egg within the firmware. Accessible through normal means.

Now all we need to find is how to trigger that easter egg!

Also, interestingly, this has been reported before in the past.

Poor @Setery, nobody believed the dude.

Edit: If we end up finding out how to trigger it I may have something to play on the machine until homebrew comes out lol
I'm actually trying to figure it out right now lmao. I was thinking the Lock Screen Menu could be a start, but there's also the button test menu.

Why bother, i assume nintendo will just have hamster corporation port VC titles since they did announce arcade archives and been doing neo geo ports since day one of switch release. Honestly I would prefer anyone else than hamster. DOT EMU, CODE MYSTICS, M2, ANYONE ELSE but hamster corp. O_O

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.

@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM

  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm

i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
  • cearp @ cearp:
It's nice to not have to have a lot of physical things though, saves space

Nor clothes 🤮 . Saves on time, soap, water and money having to wash them. :D
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@rqkaiju2, Physical media is a great source for archiving your data, none of that cloud storage shiz.
