As many of you know, YouTube was shut down for Wii.
But don't worry! It's finally back as...

WiiMC+YT (end-user edition!)

This is basically just WiiiMC with the addition of YouTube support (thanks @Winter-Knight !)
It's still in early beta and stuff, but at least now it exists!
It's made as simple as possible, just download, move to SD Card, and run!

.zip File Linked Below - Enjoy!

Alternate (possibly not working) link here

PLEASE VOTE ON THIS STRAWPOLL IF IT WORKED FOR YOU!

(release x-posted from here)

NOTE: Because this requires us to host the videos, there is a 500GB Bandwitch limit. This means, for the sake of other users, please don't watch long videos!

Wow. Awesome timing. I was just reading the other thread about how Nintendo stopped supporting it and this thread pops up. Kudos.
I wonder if we can get this on Wii U? Undoubtedly, they will stop supporting that YouTube app as well. I mean, I guess you could use this on VirtualWii?

Yeah, this should work fine on vWii. Right now this app is only more of a temporary solution until someone can get https:// media streaming working.

wait what. what do you mean you have to host the videos? its not accessing youtube directly?
Yes, it's running the vids through a server. Basically converting https to http

this works very well, but the southcastTV channel don't... you know how fix it?
Is that a live channel?

Well, this was a pointless endeavor...
It's only temporary until https:// support can be added :
I did the math and, without going over the limit, people can watch 2,440 minutes of video per day. So, it really shouldn't be an issue unless someone watches the titanic full movie on 50 wiis at the same time every day. You should be fine!

You could just use the internet browser, which, is better imo.

Homebrew like this and its creators help keep systems alive that Nintendo would let pass out of usefulness and function. Thank you @Winter-Knight !

This has nothing to do with Nintendo. Flash has been sunsetting for years and Adobe has now announced it is killing it off. It's insecure and inefficient. This effort would be better aimed at porting HTML5 video to the Wii, not resurrecting a dead/dying video format.
