question about 3ds xl and “new” 3ds xl shells

hi. so, im planning on buying a new 3ds LL off of ebay, but they dont come with a pastel pink top/bottom shell, only the OLD 3ds XL’s do. (the new 3ds XL has the metallic pink shells, which i think are really ugly.)

are the old 3ds XL shells compatible with the new 3ds XL? i think that the bottom shell would be fine because it doesnt look like theres much of a difference at all, but the old 3ds XL top shell has a hinge that looks like it wouldnt fit on a new 3ds XL. thanks in advance!

No, I don’t think the shells are compatible, just looking at the outside some of the buttons were moved around, there’s zl, zr, and the c stick too. You might be able to get it to work, but it would probably require a lot of work. There might be someone experienced with shell modification that could paint a shell for you though.
