Hello everyone!

Spirit of Justice was a great Ace Attorney game. Capcom has shown time and time again, although their business decisions are questionable, they've always been able to make games with beautiful stories. Dai Gyakuten Saiban is no exception. It is our dream - our promise, to give all English-speaking people around the world the chance to experience this game as it would've been if it was localized by Capcom themselves. Although we can't announce any release dates yet, we can announce this!

Recruitment is once again open, temporarily!

If you wish to apply, here are the roles:

  • Editors editors editors. People to insert the translation into the game using tools. The more the merrier.
  • Proofreaders make sure the editors are doing their job right. Editors can double as these. We can use a lot of those as well.
  • Testers. This is important. We don't want people who just want to play the game. We want people who know how to look for errors. Editors and proofreaders can do this job, as they know what to look for. So don't just apply for testing. We probably won't accept you. Start as an editor or proofreader.
  • Translators. We have the main story finished, but we still need to translate side choices such as cross examination presses and wrong choices, as well as the bulk of investigations.
  • Reverse engineers! Please. We need people who know how 3DS games work. This game is very stubborn in the way that text is displayed on the screen. Many issues have risen and fallen in the past few months. One obvious one is that text spacing issue. It's not that bad, but it can be better. This is by far our most wanted role.

What we don't need are graphical editors. The ones we hired from last time are amazing. Please don't apply for this role as we no longer need more.

I take it you don't need anymore translators huh? What about proofreaders on their own? Or is that just a job that can only be doubled as?

We do in fact need translators. The main story may be complete, but there are still side paths such as cross-examination presses and wrong choices. That takes up at least 30% of the game.

We do accept proofreaders on their own, although if they double as editors it's even better.

Hey, thank you for leading this translation, good luck fiding people to end with it! I really want to play this game, but I really prefer to have CAPCOM to localize it to get the secuel too.

Anyway, if I can play it before or only with this translation I would really apreciate it, it's a great work who CAPCOM should do :(

It's a control code based scripting system. Here's an example:
"Yeah. <E003 10><E025 5>The <E006>Imperial Court<E005><E025 8>...<E023>"
These <Exxx> codes control what the game does.
<E003> is a pause. The argument, 10, is how many frames to pause for.
<E025> Sets text speed.
<E006> This changes text color. In this case, to red.
<E005> This sets the text color back to normal.
<E023> This says to the game, "End this text box, and allow the player to move on by pressing a button."
Overall, it's fairly easy to get to grips with, and that's the primary list of codes you'd deal with. The editing tool may be updated in the future to abstract these away, so you can simply read <E003> as "<PAUSE>" or similar.

I was trying to translate MH3U to my native language but stopped due to font issues.

Then I stumbled upon your translation for "the great Ace Attorney."

and how you were able to adjust the size of the font, which I couldn't do in my case.

Can you tell me how you were able to adjust the size?

Was it by editing the gmd file? Or was it by editing other files like gui.

I assume we get the original japanese files and have to replace the text to english but we have to know what to replace ...

No, I'm pretty those are the people who enter the already translated text into the game itself.

Yeah, this is not really true. :/
Love seeing the progress, but it's not like you guys are localizing it.

Also, refer to a few pages back to read up on our reasons for that.
I have already played the first case (only that one) and yup, I'm with you.

Without any intention of disrespect, then I must ask, what part of your script does include localization?

I get the rationale of keeping the names intact because half are english and the setting becomes London after a while, but to what extent is this a localization, then?
