The rumors were real! A Nintendo Direct is on the way, in miniature form. The very first Nintendo Direct Mini: Partner Showcase will be airing on July 20th, set to show titles that Nintendo has in the works. It'll focus on "updates on a small group of previously announced Nintendo Switch games", from Nintendo's development and publishing partners, likely standing in for what would have been this year's E3 Direct, just scaled back slightly. The Direct Mini will air at 3pm UK time or at 7am PT. Be sure to catch the broadcast, or if you can't, check back here to see what Nintendo reveals.

Nintendo owns 100% of the copyright and 66,7% of the mark rights over the Pokémon franchise. It's a first-party franchise.
Different games developed by different copanies can be considered second-party titles, yes. But the franchise is first-party.

Let's not leave Game Freak out of the picture. They were the franchise's primary developer alongside Nintendo, so this was basically a team effort. So I agree with WiiEJECT that this is mainly a first-party franchise.
