It appears to be pre-rendered backgrounds with 3D characters. Hopefully they don't appear to run on air when they move. Looks quite nice so far, let's hope it plays well.

Eh, looks like it'd be better fit for the PSP. I was hoping for a sidescrolling Ninja Gaiden.

Because 3D games on the DS suck on conventional controls and perhaps the developers have fount a way to make a 3D game play well on the DS.
