Newly elected speaker of the US house Mike Johnson today passed nearly identical spending bill to one passed by McCarthy that cost him his leadership as speaker of the house
In nearly identical move, Johnson's stop gap funding bill saw the support of 209 Democrats and 127 Republicans (nearly half of congressional Republicans did not support the bill)
Without strong democrat support, the bill would not have passed
Some of those who voted to oust McCarthy were interviewed including Representative Donalds who said he understands Johnson is in a tough spot and he will be "just fine"
Biden has already said he is ready to pass the bill once passed by the Senate
What are your thoughts? Do you think Johnson will receive similar backlash to McCarthy - or are the Republicans afraid to repeat a leadership competition again so close to the last ouster
