I sent my Wii U in for repairs with Nintendo and it was returned to me formatted. When I turned on the machine I had to go through the initial set up process. Before I sent the machine for repair I moved all of my saves and eShop games to a hard drive.

My Wii U won't allow me to use the hard drive without formatting it but if I do so I will lose my save data anyway.

I've heard that formatting the hard drive on the Wii U locks it to the machine's serial number. I have the same machine but the hard drive isn't being read.

Has anyone had similar issues? I'd like to hear especially if it was resolved.

Thanks

Sadly there' s no way to access to Wii U formated device other than the console itself :(

I lost my saves once because the thing corrpt a thumb drive, it really sucks, that's why I backup my saves in a second device.

I just hope you haven't Hyrule Warriors or MH3U among your saves >.<

Yeah I've lost Hyrule Warriors and 150 hours of Mario kart :) I'm not sure if I will go back to Hyrule Warriors now. It's odd I have the saves on the hard drive, I'll just never be able to use them again I guess.

I guess I'd say wait for an IOSU exploit so that the console specific keys could be dumped, then the data on that drive could be recovered and sent back to the console. Unless you really really need the drive now, then I guess theres nothing to do, since the IOSU exploit most likely won't come out until later in the spring or early summer, unless Hykem works some true magic...

Thanks for the reply. I'll hang on to my drive and see what comes up. I'll have to look into IOSU exploits, is that something complicated to do?

I rather enjoy a life of taking it easy. I haven't reached that life yet though.

Eventhough the New 3DS XL is more powerful, I still feel like the DS Lite was a more polished system. It's a real shame that it never got an XL variant keeping the GBA slot. You'd have to go on AliExpress and buy an ML shell to give a DS phat the unofficial "DS Lite" treatment, and that's the best we'll ever get I'm afraid.

The phat model had amazingly loud speakers tho.

@Jayro, I don't see whats so special about the DS ML, its just a DS lite in a phat shell. At least the phat model had louder speakers, whereas the lite has a much better screen.

They probably said "Hey, why not we combine the two together and make a 'new' DS to sell".
  • Veho @ Veho:
It's a DS Lite in a slightly bigger DS Lite shell.

    It's not a Nintendo / iQue official product, it's a 3rd party custom.

Nothing special about it other than it's more comfortable than the Lite
    for people with beefy hands.
