Could some collaboration on a project be appearing in the future? The two domains were both snapped up by Microsoft this month, but the question is, why? It wouldn't be insane to say that Microsoft could have bought Sony, or that it happened the other way around either. Some people have even been speculating this could be the start of a joint-console venture. Or this could all be some marketing campaign. What do you think?[/p]
UPDATED: Move along, nothing to see here. According to a Tweet from Microsoft corporate communications VP Frank Shaw the listing is just an innocuous "defensive domain name hold".[/p]

Maybe some kind of collaboration, I don't think so though.
It would be funny to see the reaction of the 14 year old fanboys for each company who hate on each other.

Oh shit, they're joining forces to take over the casual market.

That happens than I'll be splurging money I don't have on a PC. Three casual consoles...
You've got the PlayStation 3, which is devoting a lot of effort to the Move. You've got the 360 devoting all of the effort to the Kinect. And you've got the upcoming Wii U.

Get splurging.

Bro, that would be insane (Sony purchasing Microsoft). Microsoft is too large of a company spread out into many different industry sectors.

It would make more sense to have Sony only purchasing Microsoft's game division rather than Microsoft as a whole. Personally, I wouldn't mind it. Microsoft and Sony produce gaming consoles that aren't too different from each other with the exception of a few console exclusives such as Halo and God of War.

Anyways, I doubt this means anything but some speculation doesn't hurt.

Edit: And it turns out this doesn't mean anything.

Attempting to milk the casual market doesn't equal Sony/MS have gone casual.

What does then Wii U have to do with Move and Kinect?

Anyway, Sonysoft?

That not collaboration I wanted to see.

oh gosh! if they really bring out a console together, Nintendo would face really hard times. Mh, Im wondering, if its even possible they do it, I mean I rember in europe every big company needs to get checked before they merge together or even just merge for an project. i suppose its the same for the USA and japan!?

microsoft and sony teaming up to take down nintendo
Even if this was true, all you will have is xbox games on PlayStation console or vice versa.

That wouldn't be taking down Nintendo.

Tbh, I see no reason for them to hold this.

Plus where Microsoft-Nintendo then?

Large companies purchase holding domains all the time. Microsoft probably has ten thousand domains (if not more) that they will never use.

Use your fucking brains. This is not a story.

Good to know.

Even if it WERE real, it'd be more likely related to Windows Phone 7 on a Sony phone, or something similar. Sony and MS aren't just games companies, y'know?
