Any idea how much has been translated already and how long it is going to take approximately?(a few months, year, more?) I don't want to hurry you up or anything, I'm just curious and want to prepare myself for things to come. Is this series dialogue heavy?Yeah, the current work division seems to be MetalFan doing the image editing for menus and such, Lilfut doing all the NPC dialogue, and I'm doing all the system text, including items, battle messages, quest info, and so on. There's more than you'd think.
I know that in Metal Max 4 dialogues in towns and cities are changing depending on how many bounties you have completed. Is the same happening in MM3/MM2:R?Pretty dialogue-heavy, yeah. I'd imagine a year or two minimum.
Pointers are relative to the start of the TEXT block, so the pointer is actually 20C2. Looking through the file, I see there are pointers I didn't know about in the NPCT section and not just the LABL and TCRC sections.Apears that the game take the text for // H01_BRAIN_MSG01 dialog always of the offset (34CC) and no matter what i do ,
the game always take the dialog of that offset and chance the correct dialog text of the brain.
The correct translation would be Dr. Mince. The name Dr. Minch comes from the Japanese pronunciation of the English word mince, as in mincemeat. What is a correct translation Dr. Minch or Mince?
By the way, ending seems rather sad in MM3. It looks like the entire paty dies when that ship sinks and only that girl probably from the cover art survives be she doesn't seem to be a party member. Seems like Minch/Mince failes to revive the hero in the end. Could you confirm what Mince/Minch is saying at the end after the end creditis and if you can play after the ending or are they dead?
Oh so he survives after all. Is there more than one ending in MM3? I know there are several in MM Returns and in 2. If you choose to play further can you still choose NG+ after finishing? I'm not certain but I think enemies are harder in NG+, the same in MM2R NG+, not sure if MM4 and Season of Steel have NG+.The correct translation would be Dr. Mince. I believe what he's saying after the credits is something like "Hm? What's with this corpse? It's still alive, isn't it!"
And yes, you can load a completed save file after you beat the game. Each time you do, you're given a choice to either continue playing, which lets you find everything you missed and challenge a few new super-tough bounties, or you can choose the other option which is to start a new game plus with everything you had. I think there might be other changes in NG+, but I haven't done it myself.
There is more than one ending, but most are just "fake" endings. There is only one true ending after beating the final boss, but there are other premature endings (sort of like Persona 4 but less linear, if you've played that), like if you choose to run away with Cola near the beginning of the game. It's a Metal Max series tradition. Most endings generally have to do with you getting married, I believe, but I am especially fond of one ending at the beginning of both Metal Saga and the original Metal Max (and Returns by extension) where you're asked if you're sure you want to leave home to become a Hunter, you say "no", and the credits roll. I also like how in MM2:R, where you can choose to play as either a man or a woman, all the marriage endings are just with women regardless.Oh so he survives after all. Season of Steel is like the rest of games in this series but more story-focused and linear, there is no explorable overworld and you just choose locations on the map like in Baldur's Gate/Pillars of Eternity/Dragon Age or the majority of tactical rpgs however it sounds interesting because Noah and other charaters from MM1:Returns are in it. It seems that Red Wolf dude is a party member in MM1, MM2:R, MM3 and in Season of Steel. There is more than one ending, but most are just "fake" endings. You only get NG+ and whatnot for the true ending, though. Other endings just start you back just before you made the choice that ended the game. I assume MM4 has the same NG+ as MM3 and MM2:R, since they're all in the same style, but I don't know anything about Season of Steel.
I disagree if story is unimportant then there would be no point in traslating it. I personally would like a translation for Season too since it has more story(at least more than MM1 and 2 not sure about 3), continue plots started in MM1 and despite it being more linear it is still apparently pretty easy to get stuck and locations are still big with hidden secrets and exits. Metal Max/Saga series is most similar to Romancing Saga in my opinion although Romancing Saga may be even more open ended. They reportedly learned their lesson and MM4 is balanced between linear and nonlinear story progression. By they way in MM2R there are more genders than just male/female there is okama which I guess mean tranvestite/transexual here but what is reijin? The fact that Season of Steel is story-focused and linear with no explorable overworld is the main reason I don't have much desire to play it. The appeal of the Metal Max series, in my opinion, is not the story, but the odd fusion of old-school JRPG gameplay with open world gameplay that you don't typically see in this genre, in a tongue-in-cheek post-apocalyptic setting.
No, Red Wolf is not alive in any game except the first. I think you're confused because there's a TANK called Red Wolf that shows up in every game as a reference to the original.
Yeah, the fact that they didn't want to change the endings is why you can end the game with a lesbian relationship in MM2:R, but I just found it funny anyways. Some dialogue is changed to reflect that you're a woman if you choose that, though.
