Hi. I'm new to all this so im not sure if this is the right place to ask for help. But basically i've bricked my o3ds.

It will not power up unless it has a sd card inserted. If there is not a sd card inserted it just flashes the power light then goes off.

With an SD card inserted it will just be on a black screen.

Now if i power the 3ds up and hold SELECT i'm taken to the 'Luma3DS v6.6 configuration' menu.

I can change settings and press start to save but it will just boot up with a black screen. I've also followed the steps for the 'fix black screen guide' which tells me to select the 'ErrDisp'. But when i save this and reboot i only have a black screen.

I don't know what to do, i only have access to the luma3ds menu. Please help me!

Thank you

Also to add i've just found out by holding basically all the buttons i can get into GodMode9. Can i do anything with this?

Have a backup of NAND, try this: https://3ds.guide/9.2.0-ctrtransfer.html

It's not bricked, the sd card is normal behavior.

This is working so far. Thank you so much for your help! I'll comment back if this works or not.

Thank you again!

That is not how it works. There is a specific key combo to open each payload, and it certainly is not random :3

Using arm9loaderhax am current on Emu 10.7.0-32E
Are you using emunand because of personal preference? Because if you're using arm9loaderhax there's no point in using anything other than sysnand unless you plan to do something with that particular emunand...

Well, first, I assume you want to keep your stuff that you had in EmuNAND.

So.

1) Just in case, back up your SysNAND with Decrypt9 or Hourglass9.
2) Then, back up EmuNAND.
3) Restore the EmuNAND backup to SysNAND using Hourglass9 or Decrypt9 (keep a9lh)
4) Back up your SD Card's files
5) Format the SD properly, removing the EmuNAND partition
6) Copy the files back to the card.

I have to do all that to update?, cant i just enable 'Autoboot SysNAND' in the Luma config screen?

You can do that, but don't you want the stuff from your EmuNAND on SysNAND? And don't you want to regain the space that was used by EmuNAND?

Is that the only advantage of using SysNAND over EmuNAND, just reclaiming the space back that EmuNAND uses?

Not at all. First of all, if you want to play GBA and DSiWare titles, you'll need to install them to both NANDs if you use an EmuNAND (if it is unlinked, anyway). Second, if you want to use a different SD card... it's more annoying.

Nope, they're ARM9 payloads. I recommend you grab the latest version as of now before doing anything:
https://github.com/d0k3/Hourglass9/releases

You have to launch them from Luma's payload chainloader, for example.

Is there an option in Hourglass to 'Restore EmuNAND backup to SysNand'?

What do you mean by Format the SD cart 'properly'

Does it matter if my SysNAND is on an older FW version, i think its like version 9.xx as i havent used it im ages

currently i having a problem, splashcreen and splashscreenbottom are not working, and also language emulation is not working. or maybe I don't know what I am doing. On luma3ds menu, i set up enable region/language emulation and on sdcard inside luma folder i create another folder "locale" inside locale are the titleid.txt with "USA EN" saved. but my games are not changing language, for example kirby: planet robobot. on another issue, i copy splashscreen.bin and splashscreenbottom.bin inside luma folder, but it is also blackscreen. hope you can help me. thank you.. :)

solved!
sorry for trouble.

Eventhough the New 3DS XL is more powerful, I still feel like the DS Lite was a more polished system. It's a real shame that it never got an XL variant keeping the GBA slot. You'd have to go on AliExpress and buy an ML shell to give a DS phat the unofficial "DS Lite" treatment, and that's the best we'll ever get I'm afraid.

The phat model had amazingly loud speakers tho.

  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Jayro, I don't see whats so special about the DS ML, its just a DS lite in a phat shell. At least the phat model had louder speakers, whereas the lite has a much better screen.
