Your view of trophies is pretty one sided.
For me, trophies don't get in the way of me enjoying the game (Except for when they do get bugged, like you mentioned, DAMN YOU INSOMNIAC GAMES WHERE IS MY RATCHET AND CLANK PLATINUM X_X) but rather give me more enjoyment, more reason to replay the game and keep my eyes open for things I might have overlooked or skipped. It's also a nice sense of accomplishment, and if you've platinumed a game, you know that you've definitely seen all the things the devs wanted to show. Not to mention, more motivation do shit harder. Like Brass Balls in BioShock (play through the entire game without dying). That was a good time.
sure, but the guy above me said that trophies are more important than hacks/piracy/games, which i think is a bit sad if you need to decide between games, and updating your trophies.
i like some trophies too, just the poster above seems a bit too attached to them.

Staying away from the hack doesn't mean he can't enjoy the games he wants, provided he legitimately owns them.
I actually see where he's coming from and view trophies in a similar light.
They enhance the experience, encourage you to continue, do some things you may not have thought of doing, and as such prolong the time spent of the game, making it feel like you've got your worth out of the money.

I think Sony can know if it's a physical copy because of the installation process, at least in what refers to the trophies since the data is linked to the last PSNID that installed it.
I obviously can't say for sure, but I really do think they can have a way to keep track of it.

soooo sooo soooooooooo many paranoid people in this thread ...sony can not see the way you installed gaames and sony can't see that you even use henkaku there are only 2 ways they MIGHT see you are pirating (regardless if paranoid fuckers like to make assumptions to other ways they MAY find out as if they are doing constant telemetry on your vita which would slow it down to all hell) first way is if you sync a game that is digital only and don't own it on your account and second way is if you keep your vita online while playing a digital game you don't own or a homebrew as it shows on your friends list

but what about trophies and played games? will they appears on the other account?
No they wont.

If the Vita works anything like the PS3 though, they can ban the entire console ID, and if you've already used it with your other account, they COULD tie that account to the console ID as well.

Is it safe to buy games from PSN while running HENKaku, though? I honestly don't care about Vita piracy but I have a serious hankering for Hustle Kings and I don't want to lose my account just because I bought it legally. I could transfer it from my PS3, but what a pain in the patootie.

I've bought games a number of times while running Henkaku. So far so good.

Though I'd have to agree with the conversation a little further back; Regardless of how much you delete and switch between accounts, if a CID/Console ID gets banned, then you're kinda SOL.
I do recall a homebrew called VitaCID that retrieves the vita's ID. Perhaps there will be a tool to change it soon, if not already? If something like that came along, that would be ideal in these situations. (Though they couldn't assist an account ban.) Again, if anybody has news on this topic, feel free to contribute and I'll add more to the OP.

As for "Fear Mongering" and "Paranoid Fucks" as I read in this thread, I would like to point out that this thread was created strictly for educational purposes. Anybody who's taken the time to read through the thread knows that right now, there's honestly little-to-no danger of doing almost whatever you'd please with Henkaku. It's peoples right to be "Paranoid" as well. Some might not see it as a huge deal, others would like to take precautions. I didn't really make this thread to tend to people who "Don't care" if they get banned. It exists as a log of information. I feel like an important part of this thread is to see how close of an eye Sony has on Henkaku users, and how far they're willing to go with the consequences.

we don't need to be paranoid, just conscious of the risks.

i'm not worried, but i still know there is risk.

question on banning on PS3,when you get banned, only the PS3 or the ID?
i think sometimes account, and sometimes account+console :(
i have never been banned though, so i don't know too much about it.
but, yeah it is (or it was) common enough for careless people to get banned on ps3

yall im torn... ive been hacking away at tales of phantasia GBA (the USA version) and have so many documents of reverse engineering i've done
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I just found out that the EU version is better in literally every way, better sound quality, better lighting, and there's even a patch someone made to make the text look nicer
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
Do I restart now using what i've learned on the EU version since it's a better overall experience? or do I continue with the US version since that is what ive been using, and if someone decides to play my hack, it would most likely be that version?
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
@TwoSpikedHands, I'll preface this with the fact that I know nothing about the game, but, I think it depends on what your goals are. Are you trying to make a definitive version of the game? You may want to refocus your efforts on the EU version then. Or, are you trying to make a better US version? In which case, the only way to make a better US version is to keep on plugging away at that one ;)
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
I'm not familiar with the technicalities of the differences between the two versions, but I'm wondering if at least some of those differences are things that you could port over to the US version in your patch without having to include copyrighted assets from the EU version
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
@Sicklyboy I am wanting to fully change the game and bend it to my will lol. I would like to eventually have the ability to add more characters, enemies, even have a completely different story if i wanted. I already have the ability to change the tilemaps in the US version, so I can basically make my own map and warp to it in game - so I'm pretty far into it!
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I really would like to make a hack that I would enjoy playing, and maybe other people would too. swapping to the EU version would also mean my US friends could not legally play it
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I am definitely considering porting over some of the EU features without using the actual ROM itself, tbh that would probably be the best way to go about it... but i'm sad that the voice acting is so.... not good on the US version. May not be a way around that though
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
    I appreciate the insight!
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@TwoSpikedHands just switch, all the knowledge you learned still applies and most of the code and assets should be the same anyway
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    and realistically they wouldn't

be able to play it legally anyway since they need a ROM and they probably don't have the means to dump it themselves
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
why the shit does the shitbox randomly insert newlines in my messages
  • Veho @ Veho:
It does that when I edit a post.
  • Veho @ Veho:
It inserts a newline in a random spot.

never had that i don't think
  • Karma177 @ Karma177:
do y'all think having an sd card that has a write speed of 700kb/s is a bad idea?
trying to restore emunand rn but it's taking ages... (also when I finished the first time hekate decided to delete all my fucking files )
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@Karma177 that sd card is 100% faulty so yes, its a bad idea
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
even the slowest non-sdhc sd cards are a few MB/s
  • Karma177 @ Karma177:
@The Real Jdbye it hasn't given me any error trying to write things on it so I don't really think it's faulty (pasted 40/50gb+ folders and no write errors)
Karma177 @ Karma177: @The Real Jdbye it hasn't given me any error trying to write things on it so I don't really...
