OK, this is stupid. On the TotalNewbi easy installer it says I have to Format my Memory Stick in the PSP...
But my PSP is bricked! How the bloody hell am I supposed to format it
hate2.gif

Anyone??
I really hate triple-posting, but could someone answer? This is kinda urgent.

Is formatting it on the PC the same thing? If not, is there some way I can do it on a PC
wacko.gif

Thanks in advance...

AND ALSO
Does it matter that my PSP is an 'IC1003' motherboard (TA-082) when trying to unbrick it?
Just don't use these "Noob Installerz Thing-majings", just use the original packages
wink.gif

Yeah, formatting it from the PC is just fine.

Great bricked it again while installing custom firmware.
Haha.
Grr.
Deleted the VSH folder by accident, going to try unbrick it again.

Why were you messing around the Flash0? Usually there's no need to go in there

The Custom Firmware installers take care of all the flashing

Lol, ok then

Good luck in unbricking it again

Don't worry, 2gb ones work fine... the only ones which can give you problems using them for unbricking are the 4gb+ ones

Instead of making a topic, I will ask here.

I have a PSP Phat with the offical firmware 3.80, I think. What is the easiest way to convert to custom for me?
Pandora's battery with Magic Memory Stick
smile.gif

Or if you want something faster, just use a Pandora's Battery with Despertar del Cementerio v5, and directly CFW it to 3.90M33

Remember that you have to use a Sony original battery (some fake ones work, though) and a Memory Stick ranging from 256mb to 2gb.

Great.
When it starts to format it on TotalNewbi Easy Installer (after asking for volume label etc) it just hangs on my 2gb card.
Can I skip that part and format it with PC?

Er, just a quick question, to play PSOne eboots (not official) is POPSLOADER necessary? Or is that only for problem games?

Popsloader lets you run older versions of the PS 1 emulator. I find that the later versions of POPS cause a lot of games to crash so I normally use 3.40 pops. I haven't had much of a chance to test 3.40 but so far no crashes.

Just a note, popsloader let's you have multiple firmwares built into it. There are sites that tell you which games run under which firmware best and it keeps it in memory after selecting it the first time.

Format from the PC works fine, just remember that if the installer continues to hang, you'll have to MSPFormat (an operation needed to turn the Memory Stick into a Magic one) the stick manually (a really easy operation... just get the official Pandora's Battery package

).

Um, right, it's seeming to hang on the actual mspformat.exe now.
Damn, is there something wrong with my memory stick do you reckon?

Hmm... It's a fake one or an original one?

In every case, it's still strange. I've done a lot of Magic Memory Sticks (on fake ones, original ones, and even microsd-to-msduo adapters) and MSPFormat never hanged, for me.

Try doing it manually, maybe the Installer is detecting something wrong, like the drive letter.

It's easy, just do "RUN" in your Start Menu, do "Browse" select MSPFormat.exe and add your drive letter at the end of the string. Something like this:
"C:\Documents and Settings\tehlol\Desktop\Mspformat.exe" X

And you're set

I heard that some memort sticks can't do the operation but I'm not really sure. Try checkin pspiso.com for help. There are tons of tutorials there.

I don't think it's fake, got it from Amazon =\
Meh, I'll just search for my 1gb SanDisk one with the thing already on it

EDIT:
Yeah got MSPFormat to work, turns out my Pro Duo stick was out of place on the reader by about 1mm lol. Strange, it still detected it...
Anyway is it normal for MSPFormat to be instantaneous lol

Wow...I'm happy for you, sorry for you and glad that everything worked out ok.

I know what its like to just do something really stupid sometimes. I left my GBAsp charging for a week once, not realizing it was still plugged in even though I was looking right at the plug everytime I get in my bed.

Fortunately the baterry didn't explode or anything and I unhooked it

Yes, it only logical formats the stick, so it takes less than 2 seconds

A bit of off-topic
wink.gif

GBA SP has a battery overcharge protection circuit. As soon as the battery is sensed at "full" level, the GBA just stops getting current from the plug
