Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity announced, releases November 20th

Nintendo quietly dropped a trailer on their YouTube channel today for a new Legend of Zelda spin-off, Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity. Pitched to Koei Tecmo Games by Legend of Zelda series producer Eiji Aonuma, it will be developed by the same team and use the same hack-and-slash gameplay style as the original Hyrule Warriors. Unlike that title, this will take place firmly in the world of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, set during the Great Calamity that took place a hundred years before the beginning of Breath of the Wild. The trailer shows gameplay featuring Link, Zelda, and the four Guardians. According to Koei Tecmo producer Yosuke Hayashi, his team worked closely with the core Zelda team to help capture the look and feel of the world, and that while the original Hyrule Warriors adapted to traditional Zelda conventions, Age of Calamity will break those conventions the same way Breath of the Wild itself did.

so i assume the 4 scourges (possibly condensed into more human form) will be enemy commanders and potentially playable in the extended modes, while the overworld bosses like hinox or molduga will serve as boss characters like king dodongo or phantom ganondorf from the other game.
still a rather small roster, even if they shoehorn a ganondorf in there somewhere.

not quite sure how they wanna play this out considering that this part of the story ends in a total loss..

Quote from first thread:
"Hell yeah, the last one was a blast. I'm down for more Hyrule Warriors goodness! I hope the Ganondorf from the previous one shows up in some capacity. He had what was probably my favorite Gandondorf design from across all of Zelda.

Edit: Oh shit, it's a canon BotW prequel built with BotW resources? YOOOOOOOOOO. I wonder if you'll be able to use Japanese voices like in BotW?"

While I'm not a fan of musuo style games, I might actually give it a shot just for the story alone. Also we can see the Champions abilities in display which is pretty nice.

Looking forward for the new characters and the Switch 2 version. Looks like you can even play with that robot thing.

Looks meh at best.
Same old Warriors shit, just with a new paint work.

I'm good, I can get everything I want from this from a simple playthrough on YouTube and Wikipages, that being the story/lore alone. Gameplay has nothing new to offer.

I don't like the warriors style too much as well but I really keep a very tiny faint hope that this will break the traditional conventions of the warriors type games, it was very remarked by Tecmo Koei's representative in the announcement video but further details weren't explained. An edited version of the announcement uploaded a few moments ago shows that there will be more news on September 26th.
