How to delete/uninstall the News Channel/Forcast Channel completely on the Wii Menu
So when I was trying to figure out how to delete any system menu titles, I had trouble finding sources on the internet, or guides to covering this. In this tutorial I am going to show you how to delete the News Channel, Weather Channel, or any other built in Wii application.
Now that the notice is out of the way. Lets begin, you will need the following
- Homebrew Channel (I would highly recommend the latest version.)
- A functional Wii Remote (Regular Wiimote.)
- A list of the Wii System HEX Codes/IOS's (Provided in Any Title Deleter DB)
- Any Title Deleter DB
Alternative Method;
- Homebrew Channel (Highly recommend the latest version.)
- A functional Wii Remote (I would recommend Wiimote but I believe any may work with this method.)
- Two WAD Files (News Channel of your region (v7), and Weather Channel/Forcast Channel of your region (v7) its recommended you only use your region to prevent incompatibility issues. But if you want to delete it using all regions that is fine. But don't say I didn't warn you.
- Notice: You will be uninstalling the WAD, not installing it. INSTALLING IT MAY LEAD TO ISSUES OR A SYSMENU BRICK.)
Notice: As soon as you uninstall channels they may be impossible to put on the Wii again since what it runs on may not compatible anymore. Of course with NUSD Downloader you may be able to install the Wii Channel back. (MAYBE!)
Alright lets get on with the confusing stuff. I will be going over how to delete the Weather Channel, and News Channel fully using Any Title Deleter DB. You are not required to uninstall the WAD Files since your going to be deleting the whole channel, and app completely from the system.
I hope this tutorial helps .
The mod author of this modpack, is not responsible for bricking your Wii. This application should be used with caution as it can really mess up your system.
The OP of the thread ( @petethepug ) is not responsible for any wii system bricks. Use this guide with caution. This guide does not come with warranty, I will be taking questions on this guide if I want to (Because I'm not a dick ) you will most likely be seeing me taking questions regularly. However I have no guarantee I will do it 100% of the time.
In the case I am no longer active on here please create a thread in regards to the problem (This should be on the Wii Hacking Threads.

- Having the News Channel, and Weather needing a Sys Menu Update (I'm guessing Wii System menu update that gets rid of all mod apps?)
- Unless you uninstall the wrong WAD there is almost no risk with this method.

Your going to need a few things. One is faith, two is patience, three is being brave. Of course not much is legit required (All you need is the title delete really.) But if you want to uninstall it you will need those skills in order to do it.
First off Why Any Title Deleter DB? There is a reason for this actually. The original Any Title Deleter was made originally as a open source code for developers to use to edit. The original application was made from a very decent coder. However the mod contained a lot of issues with actually deleting things on the Wii. So a second version was made (Any Title Deleter Mod.) Had improvements to delete a specific part of the Wii in a IOS, but the problem was actually finding the correct application to uninstall, and looks very intimidating to newer users. Finally Any Title Deleter DB was eventually made to improve the Any Title Deleter Mod. Only this time it has a lot of easier use, and handling compared to the previous version.
A download can be found here;
http://wiibrew.org/wiki/AnyTitle_Deleter
Of course you can use any one you want. But in this tutorial we will be specifically using this mod.
You should have the main files (boot.dol, a .xml, and .png file. All of which allow the app to work fully, and functionally. You should also have a text file noting what is what. (Should be named database.txt)
HAF is the Forcast/weather channel, and the news is HAG. These are all app formats marking what is what in the Wii System Menu. (Don't believe me? Look in "###System Channel###
Now that you know what you are deleting this is the time where you legitimately get into the deletion stage. If you do not want to have anything possibly go wrong I would highly recommend not using this method as this is where you may accidently delete something else you may have not intended
1. Load AnyTitle Deleter DB in Homebrew.
2. You will get a messege saying "Informing the Wii you are God..." Press any button once if it is not booting up, same thing with everything until you are presented with the main menu.
3. Go into system menu channels
4. There should be an ending code. Only look at the last three letters (Ignore this --> EXPS.) Only focus on this as an example (XPS.) Since your looking for a HAF, and HAG the file should be HHAF and HHAG after that select A and hit "Yes unstall"

As stated previously above. This will only delete the channel WAD, as soon as that is deleted the News Channel, or Forcast Channel will appear as a "Wii" Banner, and display the following "You must update this software in order to use it." DO NOT DO THIS. HITTING THE "UPDATE" BUTTON MAKES IT SO YOU AUTOMATICALLY AGREE WITH THE NEW "MANDATORY SYSTEM MENU UPDATE." WHICH WILL REMOVE ALL MODS ON YOUR WII, AND WILL MAKE YOUR LIFE A PAIN TRYING TO MOD THE WII YOU JUST BOUGHT, OR REPAIR IT.
Also if you have younger children, family members, or people that live with you I would highly recommend using "Method A" above that way you can delete the channel fully.
To do this method you will need
-NUSD Downloader
-V7 News Channel WAD, (OF YOUR REGION.)
-V7 Weather Channel/Forcast Channel WAD, (OF YOUR REGION)
Notice: If you don't know what your region Wii is view down below on this spoiler for help;
A download of NUSD Downloader can be found here; http://wiibrew.org/wiki/NUS_Downloader please read through some of the WiiBrew Wiki, and then select download on the top right of the wiki. It should direct you to download,
Next you will need to make a folder on your desktop you can name this anything you like I would highly recommend something like "NUSD Downloader", "NUS Downloader", "Wii Tool", etc. This doesn't have to be directly on the desktop to. In matter of fact it can be in any directory as long as the downloader, and files are present in the same file.
Next are the settings. Run NUSD Downloader, and look at the top left, you should note that there is a database section. Go into "Database", and select "Update Database" this should allow you to download the files for NUSD Downloader, and update the downloader to see if any updates are needed on the application. Next look on the bottom to see the settings. Enable the following;
Pack Wad - On
Keep Encrypted Contents - On
Use Local Files if Present - On
The rest should be turned off
Next go into Database -> System -> (Look for Application title name.) -> (Select correct region.) -> v7 (or latest version.) This should allow you to download the files. Next go into the "titles" folder, and look for the WAD. The wad should be in a .wad format displayed as a WAD File (Obviously.) With the title of the channel, and version ex: v7_weather_channel_(region ID/Code.)
Next you will need a WAD Manager. For this step I would highly recommend you use Multi Mod Manager since we will be using it in the tutorial. https://gbatemp.net/threads/mmm-multi-mod-manager-a-collection-of-tools.208281/ first extract the WAD's from the titles folder onto the SD Card. It can be located anywhere on it as long as Multi Mod Manager can access that file location. The next step is to launch Multi Mod Manager, and go into WAD Manager
And do the following;
1. Navigate to the WAD File
2. Select A on it
3. Be 150% sure you have the correct WAD.
4. Change the "Install" option to "Uninstall"
Do the same with any other channels.
From here you have deleted the channel. But you had gotten a new channel in the process named "Wii Update" DO NOT UPDATE OR YOU WILL AGREE TO THE SYS MENU UPDATE! There was really no benefit of uninstalling it. But if you wanted to do that you did it.
Just make sure you move it in the way back of the fourth page of the Wii to prevent yourself from accidently clicking update.
To do this method you will need
-NUSD Downloader
-V7 News Channel WAD, (OF YOUR REGION.)
-V7 Weather Channel/Forcast Channel WAD, (OF YOUR REGION)
Notice: If you don't know what your region Wii is view down below on this spoiler for help;
[To check your Wii Region log onto your Wii, and go into
1. "Wii Options"
2. "Wii Settings"
3. On the first page in the top right you should see your Firmware Number, and your region ID. Ex Format: 4.3U for 4.3 Firmware, and U being for a North American/United States Wii
Region Country/Region:
U = American/North American Wii
E = European Wii
J = Japanese Wii
K = Korean Wii
Your region country/region letter is important since it tells you what type of WAD you will need to delete on your Wii correctly. Not uninstalling the correct region may lead to improper function of the Wii Menu, or compatibility issues (MAYBE EVEN A FULL BRICK!)
