I accidentally updated too but can't find any sigpatches - yes, I'm aware I'm not supposed to update and should have waited. I was just high af and wanted to play mario wonder after realizing it was out and hadn't updated my Switch in months and figured "it's probably safe" when I saw atmosphere available. So.. just checking, still no sigpatches, right?

Sigpatches are usually released here. Current version is for Atmosphere 1.5.5 and firmware 16.1.0.
@impeeza provided a version for Atmosphere 1.6.1 (pre-release) and firmware 16.1.0 here.
sys-patch, a module that patches fs, es, ldr and nifm on boot is being updated as we speak. Currently, games work but forwarders and XCI installs don't. if you need the later, you should downgrade to 16.1.0 via Daybreak.

Or you can just wait it out. ETA? Unknown. Whenever it happens, it happens. At least, we have some options up there. No game yet requires firmware 17.0.0 so that's plus.

I have it on good authority that sys-patch fixes most games on 17.0, though apparently not all of them. And I'm playing Mario Wonders on 16.1, so really why anyone would update to 17.0 at this juncture is beyond me.

I accidentally updated my OFW too and currently I'm in the state of sysnand being unusuable and emu having the issue with the sleep functionality, I wonder if I update my atmosphere & hekate would that fix the issues?

I didn't touch anything beside the OFW update (through hekate reboot > OFW) does that mean my sys and emu are still in older patch firmware? sorry for newb questions but I need to clear the fog.

Whenever you update your firmware you will also have to update Atmosphere/hekate.
That being said, make sure you do that and your sys/emuNAND will become useable again.
Since this pre-release is a bit "hidden", here is the link for the current AMS version https://github.com/Atmosphere-NX/Atmosphere/releases/tag/1.6.1-prerelease

Thank you for your response, doing that will fix the sys/emu but will I be able to play the games on CFW or would I have to wait for sigpatches? This is why I'm asking about the Firmware relationship between each other.

I'll just quote this message from a few posts earlier

Games downloaded from the eShop will work like that (meaning preferably on a stock sysNAND), to play backups (whether your own or your friend's) you need to install sigpatches.

Does anything change if you downgrade? I don't have an emunand. I only use a sysnand. Will downgrading remove any files, or do you lose anything at all, such as games, saves, etc.? Thanks for the response(s). I appreciate it!

Yes, you change the version number and functions back to 16.1.0.

If you gonna downgrade, do a nand backup first!

If all goes well, you lose nothing.

I personally would not advise downgrading a sysNAND, only your emuNAND since it's a lot less hassle to create a new emuNAND than restoring a bricked sysNAND, in case something went wrong in the process of downgrading, also to generally ensure you stay unbanned.

Download the 16.1.0 files and use Daybreak to downgrade. I did it on my sysnand and it worked flawlessly.
Important note here. DO NOT DO THIS IF YOU UPDATED TO 17.0 USING THE NORMAL SYSTEM UPDATE. The system burns efuses when updating normally and will stop the system from being able to boot on older firmwares. I believe emunand is fine here. Just OFW is a big no no.

Nah you can update fine via Nintendo. It's when you boot without Hekate or Atmosphere fuses gets burned. So you can burn fuses even after using Daybreak.

EDIT: Also Atmosphere should patch out the fuses as well. So they will always be "approved" in the system.

See I assumed it was only the latter.

you are wrong a did my update to 17 from the system and i downgraded to 16.1.0 never used emunand....even if you update sysnand from the nintendo update, as long as you are on atmosphere, the efuses are not burned

Booting via Bootloader aka Hekate disables Fusecheck. so booting Emunand or stock is fine if downgraded. if you boot without bootloader, then you wont be able to boot.

  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
Do I restart now using what i've learned on the EU version since it's a better overall experience? or do I continue with the US version since that is what ive been using, and if someone decides to play my hack, it would most likely be that version?
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
@TwoSpikedHands, I'll preface this with the fact that I know nothing about the game, but, I think it depends on what your goals are. Are you trying to make a definitive version of the game? You may want to refocus your efforts on the EU version then. Or, are you trying to make a better US version? In which case, the only way to make a better US version is to keep on plugging away at that one ;)
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
I'm not familiar with the technicalities of the differences between the two versions, but I'm wondering if at least some of those differences are things that you could port over to the US version in your patch without having to include copyrighted assets from the EU version
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
@Sicklyboy I am wanting to fully change the game and bend it to my will lol. I would like to eventually have the ability to add more characters, enemies, even have a completely different story if i wanted. I already have the ability to change the tilemaps in the US version, so I can basically make my own map and warp to it in game - so I'm pretty far into it!
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I really would like to make a hack that I would enjoy playing, and maybe other people would too. swapping to the EU version would also mean my US friends could not legally play it
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I am definitely considering porting over some of the EU features without using the actual ROM itself, tbh that would probably be the best way to go about it... but i'm sad that the voice acting is so.... not good on the US version. May not be a way around that though
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
    I appreciate the insight!
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@TwoSpikedHands just switch, all the knowledge you learned still applies and most of the code and assets should be the same anyway
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    and realistically they wouldn't

be able to play it legally anyway since they need a ROM and they probably don't have the means to dump it themselves
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
why the shit does the shitbox randomly insert newlines in my messages
  • Veho @ Veho:
It does that when I edit a post.
  • Veho @ Veho:
It inserts a newline in a random spot.

never had that i don't think

do y'all think having an sd card that has a write speed of 700kb/s is a bad idea?
trying to restore emunand rn but it's taking ages... (also when I finished the first time hekate decided to delete all my fucking files )
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@Karma177 that sd card is 100% faulty so yes, its a bad idea
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
even the slowest non-sdhc sd cards are a few MB/s
  • Karma177 @ Karma177:
@The Real Jdbye it hasn't given me any error trying to write things on it so I don't really think it's faulty (pasted 40/50gb+ folders and no write errors)
