The team just released an FAQ saying they will try their best to support newer firmware, so all that can be done right now is to wait it out

Ok, so I have an up to date XL and I found a 2012 at walmart. I plan to do a gut swap, but I'm unsure how to go about keeping what I have on there already. Could I call Nintendo and tell them my 3DS got stolen/broken, and have them transfer my stuff to the new one?

Keep both of them until you do the system transfer. Nintendo doesn't care if your 3DS is stolen or unfixable.

They'll probably make you have latest fw anyway. Wait for EmuNAND.

I'm actually not sure if the system transfer will work on EmuNand but you will need to backup your original NAND before doing it anyways. The thing is, at the moment, GW mode is deactivated when you enter to System Settings. By the way, System Transfer forces you to update.

They'd check if both have the latest version or not. If one or both aren't on latest, yo have to update.

Update 2.0 that contains the EmuNAND feature hasn't been released yet. We also have no ETA.

I think it the chances is low for higher firmware then 4.5. But they are working on it.

roms together, add some kind of index table with jump offsets
and write one big file.
The launcher could then look for your added info table either on
SD or microSD and launch the game at your offset.
Ok, I wouldn't call it a 'filesystem' but it may work?

Don't think I've ever been more excited for any software release than for next gateway release. Hope it will bring easy to use multirom so we can conveniently play our backups from one sdcard.

Thats awesome....I just did a check for Walmart's in my area and it look like one in the next town over may have some Mario Kart units.....even though I have a 4.5 3DS I am thinking of actually buying up some Mario and Pikachu and any other bundles I can find to sell on Ebay as NIB 4.5 units after new years when the supply dry's up and everyone realizes how boss Gateway is after the 2.0 update comes out...
