Notice how in the video it was already booted into GW mode (something that has never happened in any other preview video). Also, they said "We are currently in the process of wrapping it up in a nice Launcher file" so my guess is we're getting a completely new GW menu and other new features to accompany the 7.x and 8.x encryption feature shown in the video. It probably wont even be called OMEGA anymore. Probably just 3.0. I also emailed them about incorporatinga "list view" in their multirom so who knows what we could get.

EDIT: Anyone else peep'd the BirdMania 3D in their multirom menu (0:52) AND as a standalone app (1:40) on the 3DS? It might mean nothing but it would be awesome if we could install eshop roms onto the 3DS itself in emunand.
Good catches. Also notice there is no NNID sign in for the eshop which further enhances speculation about GW using a hacked custom ehsop app. The 'present' app is also steel diver: sub wars fwiw. :P

I hope they fix GBA emulation. It would be wonderful to play all my ambassador games! Plus they can't claim 100% ROM compatibility without it. Dumping of eShop games would be awesome too!

EDIT: Ninja'd by sonic2756! LOL

He connects to the internet, the 3ds download 8.xx, he uses the emunand tool to extract the Nand from the Sd card to his computer and if the 3DS downloads 0.9 he will just need to inject Emunand to his sd card and update to 0.8

Buying stuff on the eShop doesn't require an NNID, but downloading free stuff does.

make a backup of your current emunand, update the emunand to 8.x, make a backup of that emunand, too, restore old emunand with "emunand tool", keep the 8.x backup for later

so if nintendo releases a 9.0 update that 8.1 emunand backup will only be useful for playing the 8.x ecrytped games right?
edit: also, what happens in emunand when youre in 8.x without it being supported?

Yeah I am wondering the same thing, would firmware spoofing not allow us to play those games even if it goes up to 9.0 and its unsupported? Are they saying the new features (if this is Omega 3.0 or whatever) will not work unless we have emunand 8.0+? I thought emunand was ONLY to use the eshop basically? So if they already come out with 9.0 wouldnt even an 8.0 emunand be no different than 4.5 emunand?

Well you think if gateway had AR support they would have shown it in the teaser..... mt card did something original.... wow......

Now its time for gateway to steal some code cause we all know mt is gonna steal the 7.2 encryption. Lol. Hopefully gw will have ar and gba support soon afterwards.

we can only speculate for now, but it probably wont be necessary to actually have a 8.x emunand to play the new games as firmware spoofing SHOULD take care of that, but who knows, can't hurt to be extra safe and sure... also, I collect emunand backups from every version, never know, when it could be handy to have an older backup ^^

Alright thanks, thought I was losing my mind but assuming everything works how it has, it shouldnt be necessary. :)

Also, seems like if 9.0 came out before they released and you basically had to have 8.0+ emunand then they just wouldnt release it until they fixed it, but who knows.

Well, gonna update my emunand for now, and let it sit until the Gateway team releases this update. I don't use emunand terribly often, but at least it'll be ready when they are.

Thor from "Pirate Software" said its just better to pirate the game than buy from a keyshop if you care about the devs

since the key gets bought with a stolen credit card
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
there's nothing to charge back because the keys don't cost them money to generate in the first place

If the game has a crack sure
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
Most these crack sites have dead links anymore or the crack don't even work
  • linuxares @ linuxares:
@The Real Jdbye What don't you get? If someone use a stolen creditcard. Then sell said key on G2A. If I the dev sold the game key, I will get the charge back cost. That's how it works, it doesn't matter if I generate 300 keys if 300 of them are bought with stolen credit cards. I never said it was on Steam, but its the dev that gets hit. There is a ton of stories out there if you google it.
