Is there anyone here who hasn't lost games this way? It seems like such a universal thing. Life is pain.

These ones hurt the most:

Tomb Raider 1, 3 & The Last Revelation
Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain
Final Fantasy VII (it was returned but without the first disc)
Sonic & Knuckles
Golden Axe
Zelda 1 (grey cart)

And to anyone who's never returned games to friends or family members, I want to know what your parents did to you. What traumatic events in your life made you value video games more than friends/family? Surely something horrible. I want to say here that I don't hate you, but I pity you. And whatever your reasons were, I hope you find peace in your life.

I learned to never loan anything ever again, although I not really lost much.

I borrowed multiple gbc, n64 games, most of the time I got them back with deleted save games. some times my mother had to call because I kept reminding them and they just didn't gave my stuff back.

only game I never got back is gta san andreas. my cousin insisted that it got "stolen" out of her bag in the bus. although I know her brother is a bit shady, he sold it for sure.

I borrowed my wii and ps3 to multiple person and each time I needed to remind them for around 6 months weekly, until I got them back. they kept think up reasons to keep the console. I had a modded pal wii with multiple ntsc games, on my friends tv all games were black and white, so redownloaded every game as pal and thought it is a good idea to delete all ntsc save files.. I have a huge backlog of wii games which I never finished that way.

I don´t even like others to touch my controllers. People press buttons to hard. But I have heard of a relative losing Street Fighter Alpha 2 on SNES that way. Tragic. Such a great and somewhat rare game.

Matchbox Emergency Patrol on PC which i had to rebuy once i found another copy on eBay

Also lent a guitar controller to my brother so his wife could play, it was returned to me with a busted Star Power sensor.
And since my brother is infamous for borrowing for a long time i started doing the same to him and his kids, borrowed his kids OG Xbox and modded it so i could play through all 4 DDR mixes that came out on the platform.

I've done it to a friend long ago though, borrowed his copy of Pokémon Red and never returned it to him. Years later i found him on Facebook and asked him if he wanted me to return it and told me to keep it.

Dungeon Keeper 2 (US PC release).
PS2 memory card with my Final Fantasy 12 save on it, though this might be more the younger sibling problem.

Some things did come back years and years later during a clean up. For the most part though it really is the younger sibling problem that sees things get lost.

This was in the early '00.. my brother loaned some our (bootleg) NES carts to some friends that live in the neighborhood, and they didn't return any of them.. He did the same with some PS1 discs, to a one specific "comerade" of his.. Can't remember the names though..
Never loaned any games ever since..

Breath of the Wild, my wife's nephew sold it along with his Switch so not only did I not get it back but the little dope made money off it.

i would cut their bikes' tire if they refused to return my games, and it always worked like silk.

Btw i had several NES games when i was kid and one of my cousin never returned them, i would punch her hard but the only problem was she's my FEMALE COUSIN tho........

Well, it was my brother's fault for loaning them, as i told him not to initially, and this is me being a 5~6yo.. But he did it anyway without me knowing (both times).. 🤷🏻‍♂️

This is how I am. Maybe even worse. I don't let people take inserts out of cd's or anything else to read them becasue they get fingerprints all over. Gotta hold that shit by the edges, bro! Due to things like this I learned to stop loaning anything to anyone at an early age becasue things never come back in the same condition. Most everything I own is mint, near mint condition. I take care of my things, incredibly well. Being a rental shop doesn't allow me to do that. :)

I don't remember having this problem. My friends and I continuously borrowed between ourselves and even gave each other some games. It's crazy that it happened in only a six year period, at the time it felt like our whole lifespans.

Especially GC disks. Fingerprints and scratches would be even worse. I even worried the Wii would not treat them with as much care as I did. But it treated them just fine. :rofl2:

This is why I've been able to sell so many of my old discs on even like fifteen years later. You've got to respect your stuff.
My wife's old things, on the other hand, downright trigger me. Her discs look like she kept them face down under the TV.

I just want to say that's really cool and you're awesome for doing it even though he let you keep it.

Kung Fu Panda for 360. Loaned it to a friend for easy achievements/gamerscore, every time I asked for it back he kept making up excuses. Didn't really care about the game anyway, so eh.

@K3Nv2, RIP Felix does great videos on the PS3 yellow-light-of-death.

Eventhough the New 3DS XL is more powerful, I still feel like the DS Lite was a more polished system. It's a real shame that it never got an XL variant keeping the GBA slot. You'd have to go on AliExpress and buy an ML shell to give a DS phat the unofficial "DS Lite" treatment, and that's the best we'll ever get I'm afraid.

The phat model had amazingly loud speakers tho.

@Jayro, I don't see whats so special about the DS ML, its just a DS lite in a phat shell. At least the phat model had louder speakers, whereas the lite has a much better screen.

They probably said "Hey, why not we combine the two together and make a 'new' DS to sell".

It's a DS Lite in a slightly bigger DS Lite shell.

    It's not a Nintendo / iQue official product, it's a 3rd party custom.

Nothing special about it other than it's more comfortable than the Lite

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

i think only the red mario kart edition phat was v5

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.
