Hello everyone,

With a lot of frustrations and time spent on the Gateway......e.g. kept trying to figure out why i kept getting a black screen on gw launcher..I ran across another issue which is driving me insane now.

I'm trying to get the blue card to boot up but everytime i tap on the Deep Labyrinth i get a black screen. I read in forums that i need to get the bluecardfix.cia and mset installed. So i followed this guide
--------------------
the instructions an the GW website aren't exactly noob friendly, here is a improved version
1) Copy the Gateway 3DS 3.2.1 ULTRA Launcher.dat to your New 3DS microSD card
2) Copy mset_<region>.cia and bluecardfix.cia to your New 3DS microSD card (where <region> is your console region)
3) Copy “DevMenu.3ds” to your Gateway 3DS microSD card.
4) Boot into the Gateway menu with your preferred entrypoint (Zelda or Cubic Ninja)
5) Select the new “NVRAM INSTALL” option from the menu, proceed with installation.
6) Once installed, Hold B and choose Gateway mode, it will warn you that your are booting into sysnand, press X to continue.
7) launch DevMenu.3ds(do not use bigbluemenu.3ds, this will not work with BBM) from the multirom menu (press SELECT)
8) Start DevMenu and import mset_<region>.cia and bluecardfix.cia from your SD card.
9) Reboot console and verify you can now boot into Gateway mode with the classic System Settings DS Profile method. (Settings -> Profile -> Nintendo DS profile)
10) Enjoy! No more cartridge swapping required to use Gateway 3DS on New 3DS!
--------------------

but still i cannot get it to load. Im starting to reach the point where im getting worried if im doing any damages to the emmc from the constant forced shutdowns......will it?

Also, i just realized that installing mset will remove the c-stick and super 3ds calibration. Will reinstalling this file fix it up? and will this help with the Blue Card issue?

First problem is that you are sticking with Gateway.

SOLUTION:

Use this guide to install CFW, which is all you need...

3ds.guide

Then sell or keep your Gateway.

Then buy a flashcart to emulate ds games, like an R4 card and You can install your games for free using their .cia format.

Please follow the guide, it will be so much easier for you.

(I know I'm not answering your direct question, but I am trying to help you out here.)

I know CFW is an option but would like to go via cart instead.

Why? You don't have to boot through a cart and have to wait for Gateway to support the latest firmware.

It's simple and takes, at most, 30 minutes.

You have an entire forum to help you with problems you have on there.

Nearly no-one on here uses Gateway anymore, and soon no-one will be able to fix anyone's Gateway problems (since most problems nowadays is pretty much chance-based on Gateway), other than Gateway themselves (who's support sucks, by the way.)

You can even sell your Gateway here, and have an R4 as a part of the payment.

Makes no sense why you want to suffer through these problems, as we give you solutions to help, but you don't want to stray from what you know to a better solution to your needs.

Sorry if I sound mean, but I'm really wondering...

Cool. Nice opinion. Except that nobody asked for it. He said why he uses it, and if you can't accept that he uses it and help him with his problem, then fuck off.

Your 3DS doesn't support the blue card without firmware modification. Use 3ds.guide to install B9S and CFW, then follow this guide to use Gateway on your 11.2 3DS. Just remember not to upgrade your 11.2 3DS and everything should be peachy.

I'm surprised it took this long to get an answer.

The blue card itself was blocked beyond 7.1 on stock. (need a whitelist CIA installed to work)
Almost 100% positive that GW mode borks the DS reboot. (after installing blue card fix CIA, just reboot stock [no GW mode] does the DS cart still fail?

Does the Blue Card work in GW mode?
DS/DSi mode doesn't work at all in GW mode. It may or may not work in Classic Mode.
Edit: Just tried. Doesn't work in Classic Mode either. You'll have to reboot into stock firmware to run it, bluecardfix should still work but you do need to install it in GW sysNAND mode.
Basically anyone with GW Fast Boot is screwed out of DS/DSiWare compatibility.

Exactly this. If OP is using other method than GW Fast Boot, OP should be able to skip GW booting and use stock firmware to run the blue card.

Thanks guys, apologies but made a mistake. I'm currently on 9.2.0-20. So for Tomy, I have installed the mset and bluecardfix.cia files in GW sysnand mode and it made no difference. Black screen.

For the CFW method. I'm sort of trying it as well and i'm stuck in this part:
Section II - Launching SafeB9SInstaller
3. Launch safehax from the list of homebrew

When i it run it'll get stuck at "Crypto Status - FIRM crypto fail".

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.

@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
  • cearp @ cearp:
It's nice to not have to have a lot of physical things though, saves space

@rqkaiju2, Physical media is a great source for archiving your data, none of that cloud storage shiz.
