For me, when I tried linking my 3DS when the update first came out, nothing showed up on my points..
So that led me to try and unlink and relink maybe like twice or so?
It still had not shown that it's linked on Club Nintendo, and I googled it and saw that other people couldn't successfully link their system.
I think a few days later, I checked again, and I had 80 more points than I did before. I checked the log thingie, and voila, I was given 40 coins twice. Except my system still isn't linked.. I have unlinked and tried linking it again, but no more points, and no successful linkage either..

Yeah, I've reached Platinum without even registering my 3DS and its games.
Just remember that linking your account takes 30 minutes or more... so if you don't get the 40 points right away that's why. Registered mine and my wife's and got 80 coins... not even going to bother trying this exploit as it'll only ever lead to bad things.

Mmm... Didn't work for me, do link and unlink multiple times at once? or once every 30 minutes? i linked and unlinked it 4 times about 3 hours ago and didnt receive coins for it today

It showed the survey for me when I first downloaded the eShop (A few hours after it came out), but the survey wouldn't work.
Now it's not there at all. I hope I get my 40 coins.

they should be fixing this, seeing as though are people who are complaining about it in the nintendo tech forums
i no longer have the option to relink my 3ds so this is something i can no longer do

Eventhough the New 3DS XL is more powerful, I still feel like the DS Lite was a more polished system. It's a real shame that it never got an XL variant keeping the GBA slot. You'd have to go on AliExpress and buy an ML shell to give a DS phat the unofficial "DS Lite" treatment, and that's the best we'll ever get I'm afraid.+1 -

@Jayro, I don't see whats so special about the DS ML, its just a DS lite in a phat shell. At least the phat model had louder speakers, whereas the lite has a much better screen.+1 -

Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.

You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60
