Hello,

I just got a new computer at a Goodwill a few days ago, for 150$. It's a desktop, and so far, I love it. Now, I'm fairly knowledgeable about computers, but I felt that I wanted some opinions on the computer. This computer was purchased only because my laptop died, and I needed a replacement for cheap. I need to know how future-proof this computer is, and if I should ditch this desktop for something new.

Here's the specs;

Model: Dell Precision T3400
Processor: 2.6 core duo.
Hard Drive: 320GB SATA
OS: Win XP
Memory: 2GB RAM
Video: nVidia GeForece FX4600 (768MB)

Well it's LGA 775 so you can't swap out new processors (the Core i series uses newer), but a decent Core 2 Quad should last you a while.

The main killer for general use is the OS (XP is getting more and more outdated) and the RAM (get at least 4GB.

For gaming, the video card needs to go, it's ancient... but the motherboard might not take newer.
