A9LH is allows cfw on sysnand that makes it updateproof so that you can update sysnand but still keep cfw, as well as faster boot times (at least 2x as fast)

A9LH possible due to using Console special stuff (OTP) to prevent updates from affecting it. You need to downgrade to 2.1 to get OTP to get your console specific cfw.

Thinking of following the tutorial to get A9LH, but that tutorial doesn't mention anything about coldboot. My current set up is coldboot into reinand. Any advice regarding the coldboot?

I'm having a hard time making sense of what you mean, if you mean what happens when the system is powered on from an off state without pressing any buttons, then if you get the A9LH+AuReiNAND it will go directly to the CFW'd home menu.

If I use the 3ds to download the firmware, can I keep a copy to move the PC?

The set up the guide had was cakes and entering emunand though homebrew.
My set up is reinand and entering emunand via coldboot

I'm wondering if i should remove coldboot or anything of that nature before following the guide.

There are several instances in the guide where you need to access HBL from SysNAND so I think you probably should remove the coldboot you have set. I wish I were savvy enough to help you figure out where to start and what to do precisely, but my only experience going from existing cfw setup to a9lh was menuhax+rxTools -> a9lh+AuReiNAND. I didnt have anything on the system that I cared about saving so I just started at the beginning of Part 3 (EmuNAND) and setup a new EmuNAND with cakes and continued from there. If you have stuff you feel you need to save, I don't know :/

also, you might wanna try using the Ask! section or starting a thread on the subject in https://gbatemp.net/forums/3ds-flashcards-custom-firmwares.201/ you're probably not the first person aiming to go to a9lh from a Reinand setup

the type of memory SD cards use does not require defragmentation and it would do more harm than good (by causing extra wear). flash memory doesn't have an unlimited lifetime.

No. I don't know what it does, but you can't copy it to your PC AFAIK

I have the newest GW launcher and OoT. And on Smea's site it just has links to the starter kit (which I have and is on the root of my SD card) for one method with OoT and the other method had a bunch of files that I have no idea what to do with (but also have).


The guide you linked me had its own link for how to actually install it here, but that one just says "run the installer" which I thought I was doing by having the files it gave me on my SD card but apparently not?

I'm not sure what they mean by other hax. Like the Gateway? As far as I know it doesn't run bin files? And even if it did I have no idea which to run...

Please, someone help me with this... Smea's site says "the boot file" will be the first thing to run upon running whatever other hax, but I don't have any other hax. My Gateway card itself won't run it at all, but does see it (do I need to make it a .3ds instead of .3dsx?) I'm totally at a loss here....

My O3DS (the one I'm running on right now) is 4.2 with 9.4 EmuNAND (Gateway). My end goal is to downgrade my N3DS from 10.6 to 9.2
I'm trying to install OotHax on my O3DS so I can use the homebrew on my N3DS to downgrade it, but can't seem to get it to run at all. I don't even know HOW to run homebrew. All I know how to run are .3ds, and none of this is that.

I have all the homebrew launcher files and all that, and it's all gibberish to me as to how to run them. I'm supposed to use some other hax? Gateway doesn't count? What do?

Like I can't even seem to figure out how to get OoThax on my OoT card... I read the tutorial and it says to use some other hax? What other hax?

I want to help to hack it but idk with below 9.2

*hax are compatible from 9.0+, so maybe you can run browserhax from your emunand?

Sorry, missed that part! I actually looked and don't see it at all.... Per both your instructions, I tried both the far left and far right of the slider, and neither is booting.... Both just freeze it. I deleted all my cookies and history too, and booted it via the bookmark after exiting the browser and reentering it... I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong.
