Hi. I had the same exact problem a few nights ago and trust me whatever you do for some reason the retroarch app will not be the same ever, so just delete it and do a fresh install.
I advise you to simply pick you GUI of choice and inputs on your first run and then exit the app so those choices get saved. Don’t run any cores/games on your first run and just set it up. Also if you are going to be using the Channel you don’t need a single core folder under wiiu/apps/here....not even the retroarch one as its already installed/injected via the Channel. Just install retroarch folder on root and download or rewrite cores from the retroarch app or site on that folder when you want to update. Careful of overwriting your playlists, I just keep them on my desktop as well lol.
Also, I find myself closing the current running content now before I want to start running a new game and it helps with prolonging that memory error and at most times having a solid run of a few games and not getting it at all.
This memory error is some funky shiz and I hope they fix it soon.

Thanks, that's reassuring. I copied over a fresh folder of sd:/retroarch and it launched fine. I had to use a linux live cd to use linuxes partition manager to save my sd card, no app in windows allowed me to format the drive. I understand to little of this stuff to know what caused it but some sectors must have got locked up in the process of retroarch downloading assets.zip .

I am preparing the wii u for a kid as a gift, so the current state of retroarch is not suitable for a young child who would have to know what he's doing far too well in order to not mess anything up. I appreciate the work the developpers are doing and don't mind waiting a little longer. For now I will just use the wii's snes9x and the FCE ultra. I made channels using the injector script and they run fine.

Quick couple questions.
First, is there a setting in retroarch that allows simultaneous use of the Pro Controller and Tablet controller to operate the retroarch menu ? For example, Loadiine allows me to use either at once. I could be playing on the TV in my living room with the pro controller, and decide to go do something. I could just grab the tablte controller and keep going. I don't need to set either controller to control the menu.

By contrast in Retroarch, I need to specifically set the pro controller or tablet controller in the menu. One is disabled while the other is enacted. If I had been previously using the pro controller and saved the config, next time I grabbed my tablet and wanted to play - I'd have no control over the retroarch menu. Is there some sort of configuration I can do to smoothen this out?

Also, is there GC controller compatibility? I have a snes to GC controller adapter that would be awesome to use.
Than you.

You want the “all users control menu” setting in the input configuration.

As for Gamecube controllers, the official GC adapter is supported, as well as the Mayflash one I believe.

I was wondering if Neo-Geo CD will be added for Retroarch on Wii U & 3DS anytime soon?

I love Neo Geo. Yet the NGCD seems to be a powerhouse when it comes to arranged tracks and fluid gameplay.

If not, then its cool. But if there is another way(like, through MAME or whatever), how can I do it up? If not for now, then I'll wait it out until its implimented.

Also forgot to ask if it will be compatible to the Wii U-to-GC Adapter at all? All I can use is the Gamepad when in use, and if I set it to disable, the Wiimote, CC Pro, & Wii U Pro Con works. Havent lucked out on the GC Adapter...unless I need the driver for it to work just like I would with Nintendont for vWii.

I managed to build working playlists with Playlist Buddy. It worked for everything except PC-Engine/TG16 CD-based games, where the syscard3.pce file somehow never loaded (though it did load when I ran the content directly, as it is in place). I had problems even in Windows, which led me to believe that it was the playlists created by Playlist Buddy that were causing the issue.

Then I just tried it again this morning and it works. So I have no idea what happened.

so what happened to the psx dynarec? did ut went anywhere? any more updates from that guy?
As @ploggy says, the guy is making slow but steady progress.
Twinaphex already got it to compile but the last thing I heard about that was that the BIOS was not playing or something similar.
But that was way back in September, perhaps the newest commits fixed this.

I've got a small problem with those sweet guys here:

View attachment 102841

I have a 4 port USB hub connected to the first of my Wii U's front slots. In the hub the Mario controller is in port 1 and the Luigi controller is in port 2.
Thanks to Maschell I've built an ini file (here) which is working for the Wii U.
That means I can map one controller to player one and the other to player two in HID to VPAD which is working great for Wii U games like Mario Kart 8.

However in RetroArch it doesn't work. They are being detected with the ini in place now and I wanted to set them up as player 2 and 3 while player 1 is the Wii U gamepad.
In the input settings they show up as something like HID 0810/E501 (#01) and HID 0810/E501 (#02). So obviously I mapped #1 (Mario style) to player 2 and #2 (Luigi style) to player 3.
But everytime I launch a 4 player game it happens that the Mario style pad (#01) is controlling both players (2 and 3) at the same time while the Luigi style pad (#02) does nothing in game.

Any ideas?

Edit: After some research people around the internet seem to use "udev" as the input driver but I guess we are forced to use "wiiu" on the Wii U. Otherwise the built in mechanics of HID to VPAD won't work I guess?
Thanks to the great Maschell this is fixed since yesterday's nightly.
I've bought another two SNES USB controllers from a complete different dealer and it turned out they had the same hid/vid as well as the two I already had although they have a different case and brand.
However with the latest nightly I can play Bomberman 3 (Snes9x) with 5 players using the Wii U GamePad and 4 SNES USB controllers on a 4 port USB hub. Feels good! :)

I thought I'll give you the links in case anyone's interested in getting 4 cheap SNES USB controllers that will work just fine for 4 (or even 5) player games in RetroArch:

http://www.ebay.de/itm/252763185744

This is the USB hub I'm using:

https://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B00JX1ZS5O/

Happy retro gaming. :)

One note: While being in a 4/5 player game in the Snes9x core (like Bomberman 3) open the menu after the game has launched, go to Settings -> Input -> Input User 2 Binds and change the User 2 Device Type to "Multitap".
This has to be done for player 2 only. 1, 3, 4 and 5 can stick to SNES Joypad or RetroPad.
Otherwise SNES games are limited to 2 players.

With the new VC inject method, launching WiiSXR with overclock on and using Interpreter is a good fix while waiting for Dynarec. FF7 runs smoothly with FPS limiter and up to 65fps without.

That might be true but I prefer having everything at one point (in this case RetroArch) so I guess I'm waiting patiently. :)

WiiSXR is a no go for Megaman X4 and X5 the games break after completing the first levels :(

That, and the screen tearing hasn't been fixed, despite being reported, there needs to be Gaussian interpolation, culling/depth buffer fixing,ADSR, XA, CDDA (which was disabled but has yet to be re-enabled), a lot needs fixing.
I'd just as soon wait for the dynarec, because the other issues aren't gonna be fixed for a very long time, if ever.

Lets hope they get fixed, I suppose I could always use the GC Megaman X Collection for now :P

The bug in question is definitely WiiU Gens Plus specific.
RPX is the standard format nowadays, Elf hasn't been used for Retroarch for ages :P
If you haven't already I'd install the Retroarch Channel. It cuts down on the DSI Errors. :) The DSI Errors are really annoying and have plagued the WiiU port for the longest time :( But for me it it basically stopped them. I do still get Memory Error 160-2203 at times though :(

You can get the Retroarch Channel from @cucholix Sig :)
I'm getting these errors in another cores too, when I quit, Retroarch Launcher.elf on Homebrew Launcher.

He's streaming right now and just called the retroarch WiiU guys "a bunch of assholes" lol

And this kind of stuff ultimately is why the WiiU port is in the state it's in and why it's hard to get certain devs motivated enough to care about giving it some love. We give, give, and give, while expecting nothing in return, and for our hard work, dedication and effort you just get called 'a bunch of assholes' by some narcissistic spotty teenager that needs to vent his ill-founded opinions on people he has never met, and people that have never wronged him. All of this hate and vitriol is unprovoked, we do not care to start fights with people.

There's almost zero to nobody to work with in these underground console scenes, to the point where it's almost not worth bothering with it.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

@ploggy Can you tell me EXACTLY how to reproduce those DSI errors? In order to fix any of these, bparker needs to first be able to reproduce these.
