Just the folder being there isn't what gives you the protection, it is using Luma as your CFW - running the arm9loaderhax.bin or boot.firm wherever it is, either on the SD card or in CTR-NAND, and having its code patching the home menu...With the root I mean the luma folder must be placed on the sd card main folder (the root)and then it will proteyouyou

You're protected when you boot into Luma (using your 3DS after following https://3ds.guide and not using the Gateway card). You are not protected when you boot into Gateway mode. It's quite simple :-/If is so I still haven't understood like protect a 3ds from a potential gateway 3ds.
But isn't luma just an helper support of A9LH and B9S? I don't thought luma was a CFW really.
Anyway if that folder don't prevent you from a possible brick,Am I protected when I boot my cfw 3ds?When I did it I run the payload.bin so should be fine. You said that I think.
Instead what to patch the home menu with its code?
Ok I think to have understood this time.Pratically you're saying that I'm protected from gateway if I boot my 3ds loading luma holdind select, and then from the luma's menu(maybe work also with chain log of luma?) hold the D-PAD down and load Gateway ,right? You're protected when you boot into Luma (using your 3DS after following https://3ds.guide and not using the Gateway card). You are not protected when you boot into Gateway mode. It's quite simple :-/
So only booting luma or not use gateway. These are the only two waysYou're protected from Gateway if you don't use it. If you boot into Gateway mode with the chainloader or any other way you are not protected (but if you're using an emuNAND nothing bad will happen to your system).
Yes (if you use a different CFW than Luma, make sure it protects you also. Probably if it has been updated for b9s then it does, but better to make sure, or stick with Luma). Also, you don't have to hold Select to boot Luma, it does this automatically when you turn on your console - that's how you're able to install homebrew etc.So only booting luma or not use gateway. These are the only two ways
All versions of luma boots without select?Because now I'm thinking that every time my 3ds is booting it show my splash.bin luma payload.Yes (if you use a different CFW than Luma, make sure it protects you also. Yes all correctAll versions of luma boots without select?Because now I'm thinking that every time my 3ds is booting it show my splash.bin luma payload.
Is only the menu of luma that boot via select so?Luma boot always together the cfw of turn?
Anyway like you said is better be on the last version to be safe
Finally XDYes all correct
https://gbatemp.net/threads/tutorial-using-luma3ds-gateway-on-b9s.431691/I am trying to boot into Gateway Menu (Where I can dump games, etc). I press and hold Down and L on system boot, but gateway dragon screen comes up and says no GW card inserted. How do I boot into Gateway Menu with a A9LH/Luma setup? Help and thoughts appreciated
You definitely need an emuNAND - back up your SD card contents, then boot into Gateway with the card not inserted. Put the card in the choose format emuNAND from the menu. You'll want to update your emuNAND to 11.2 (no higher, or Gateway won't work). To do this, download a rom of Poochy & Yoshi, boot into Gateway with the card not inserted, put the card in, hold Up when selecting Boot Gateway from the menu. Then try to play Yoshi and it will update you. To get on the eShop you'll have to get access to homebrew and get CTR-httpwn, which will let you access eShop on a lower firmware.Hello everyone.
i havent updated my firmware for a long time( both for 3ds and for gateway)
Now i want to play mario party star rush.
What steps should i take to update both system firmware and gateway. i have been away from everything for a long time so i need some guidance.
Also i don't remember whether i had emunand or not. Can i start over and set up emunand?
i need to download mario party star rush guest app so i guess i would need eshop access( is accessing eshop without emunand possible?risky? )
Thank you very much in advance
No reason why it wouldn't, I haven't heard of there being any special AP for it.Does Ever Oasis work on the gateway?
Follow https://3ds.guidei've been away from the scene for a while now and also seeing people aren't using gw3d anymore. I would like to setup my brothers o3ds 9.2 so that he can play cia homebrew etc etc, all the goods. what is the now go-to cfw or solution? thnx
