TUTORIAL: How to make Wii U USB Helper work on a Mac (
Tested with
Yosemite (
10.10) and
El Capitan (
10.11))
Download
WineBottler Combo 1.8 - RC4 (146mo) (use google) /
XQuartz-2.711 (75,8mo) (use google) /
Updater.exe (881 Ko) (first page of this thread)
1- Right click on your
Desktop, create a new folder named
Wii U USB Helper and create a new folder named
Games inside of it
2a- Double click
WineBottlerCombo_1.8-rc4.dmg a new window should open
2b- Drag and drop both
Wine and
WineBottler in the
Application Folder Shortcut
3- Go into your
Application Folder, scroll down and double click
Wine
4- Click the
Wine Glass on the top right corner and select
Configuration and change the "
Windows Version" for the "
Default Settings" to
Windows 7 and
Apply
5a- Click the
Wine Glass again on the top right corner and select
DOS Prompt
5b-
GIVE IT TIME (
let it install everything and you should get a prompt saying "
Prefix created successfully")(Close the
DOS Prompt Window)
6a- Double click
XQuartz-2.711.dmg, a new window should open
then double click
XQuartz.pkg and install it
6b- Once the installation is done >
Log off your session and Log back in your session like it tells you to
7- Go into your
Application Folder, scroll down and double click
WineBottler (You should see a bunch of
Windows Applications like the picture below if yes (
you're on the right path))
8- Click on the
Advanced TAB > You should set every settings like the screenshot below
***When you "
Select File" to select the
Updater.exe the
path will be different***
***
So /Users/bloodyrek/Desktop/Updater.exe < will be different for everyone***
>Click
Install
>Save As:
Wii U USB Helper
>Where:
Desktop
>Click
Save
INFO:
Let it install everything (it might take a long time so don't cancel anything just let it go through everything by itself)
INFO: Once it's done go in the "
On My Mac" Tab in
WineBottler and click on "
Wii U USB Helper" (like the screenshot below)
(
GIVE IT TIME and It should make an error "rundll32.exe" just click "No")
You should see the
Updater and "
Browser for Folder window" appear
Select the
Wii U USB Helper Folder that you've created on your
Desktop in the first step of this tutorial > "
Browser for folder window" (like the screenshot below)
(
NOT the Wii U USB Helper.app that you see on this picture)
Everything else should be self explanatory
Testing:
I've downloaded Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash and everything seems to work
WARNING:
If you completely close Wii U USB Helper and try to open it again its going to crash. The only "temporary solution" i found was to delete everything inside the "Wii U USB Helper" folder "except for the Games Folder" and then re-open the software, it's going to re-download all the Wii U USB Helper files but the games downloaded will still show as downloaded/installed (I currently have no permanent solution for this)
