Gaming 3DS and Switch: Can They Live Together?

I don't think AR is really that well suited for a full game. It would work for something like Pokemon Go but it would still feel really gimmicky. I would expect Microsoft to hype it up some more if they plan to do much with it. And I like AR for the half reality half VR. I understand how you favor more immersive though.

Microsoft doesn't want it to go the way of the Google Glasses. It's still a work in progress, it's going to be amazing but there are still some limitations that can be a turn off if the product was overhyped. That's why they are focused on industry. Boeing has a few and they love the Hololens.

3ds graphics and resolution are getting hard to stand as time goes on imo, its preety outdated, i would love for more exclusive new 3ds games so devs could bring better games but barely any devs wanted to make it happen and new 3ds has been released for a while, since the switch is fully portable there is no need to make games for the 3ds still imo, nintendo should switch all their 3ds dev studios and make htem do games for the switch, imagine all 3ds games running on the switch, no more extremely low poly or res graphics, and devs can still take advantage of touch screen and all portable gimmikys they love like gyro, microphone,camera, whatever.

Honestly the low res still isn't bothering me much, do you have an xl model, I'm just playing on normal 2ds and with the screen being so small it's not that big of an issue

True. The low res never bothered me till I got a New 3DS xl.

Nintendo will likely keep the 3DS (2DS) alive for another 1-2 years and then discontinue it to focus exclusively on the Switch and work on the next Nintendo "Switch 2" console, or the Switch Mini so that it fits the pockets like the 3DS did.

see, I keep a 7 inch tablet in my pockets on a regular basis so I'm sure I can fit a switch in there when one is actually available nearby

That's you but the rest want a smaller device that fits their pockets like the 3DS did. GBA SP or the Micro GBA were pretty much perfect but Nintendo could never make the Switch Mini so small.

Yes, yes they can... A lot of the games can probably run on both platforms if the developers so wish. I still think the 3DS will slowly lose it's momentum when the Switch picks up the pace. I however don't think the 3DS will by any means be dead in the water.
The 3DS still have a big installbase but for example Indie games it's a perfect opportunity to have it on both systems.

Eh, while I enjoy the idea of the switch, I do not take it as a handheld and as such I do not consider it the 3DS's successor.
I will trust Nintendo for now when they said that the Switch won't replace the 3DS, and hopefully a dedicated handheld will be released in a year or two.

i use manly new 3ds xl so yeah you can start seeing low res on every game.

Possibly. Microsoft will probably revive the Kinect like Sony did with the Move controllers.

For me, the Switch is my N3DSXL successor. The day a Pokemon game is made for Switch, the world can kiss the 3DS goodbye.

The 3DS is still selling. I consider it to be the handheld, and the Switch the home console.
