Question, without your SD does the blue light fade into nothingness after a while or does it stay? This is important because your system might be bricked.

If it fades that means that you didn't move the proper A9HL file into the your sysnand and luma doesn't know what to do because of it.

If it stays a solid blue..... You might be screwed. Try reinstalling luma's A9HL.bin into a fresh SD and try accessing hourglass to restore your sysnand if you're still unable to make it work. If none of the above works it's possible that, because it just stays with a Solid blue light and a black screen, it's perma-bricked

it doesnt matter now, i opened it back up to see if anything was messed up, and one of the trigger ribbons broke.

I've downgraded from 10.x to 9.2.0 and now I can boot into both luma3ds configurations and 9hourglass.
my question is, is it truly safe to update the official system version ?

Hi there, please bare with me as I explain my situation. I currently have an Old 3DSXL and I have been using the Gateway for a good year and a half. I recently followed the guide at https://github.com/Plailect/Guide/wiki to install the arm9loaderhax. I currently use a gateway to play my games, which means I load the gw fastboot sysnand on start. Once it loads and I go to system settings, the version displayed is currently at Ver. 10.7.0-32U. It seems after I installed the arm9loader and followed the guide, I'm unable to use the browser, it gives me an error code. My current browser version is 1.7625. I used to be able to conect to WiFi spots fine before following installing arm9. In order to use certain WiFi hotspots for internet I need to load the browser first to accept terms. (I'm being as thorough as I can to explain properly why I'm here asking a question). It seems I need to update my firmware to get an updated browser.

I only want to access the internet for the game Super Mario Maker, hence why I'm here asking a question which I"m sure most people are tired of hearing. Is is safe to update my firmware once I load the gw fastboot sysnand at the start? I don't fully understand all the terminology in the hacking scene, and when I try to look up answers I get more confused the more I read.

I greatly appreciate any response and help anyone can give me, I'm just trying to avoid any possibility of bricking/messing up my system as well as getting my 3DS banned online.

Can I use plugins on a DSTwo card (Emulators specifically) on the latest firmware?

I'm aware of homebrew but would prefer to have the latest firmware. I do not need to emulate 3DS or DS games with the DSTwo Plus.

I'm leery of bricking my 3DS (As we all are I assume). I trust bricking is only a problem with gateway mode on this particular flashcart? And can be avoided by not having a launcher.dat file on the SD card?

Any information would be vastly appreciated. I'll continue to google the matter myself in the interim but so far either my googling skills are lacking, or the question is just too specific.

And can I still just update no matter what with a9hl?

So far yes. Nintendo hasn't patched the section where luma+A9HL are installed

You can downgrade from any version. Version 11+ you need a DSIware (for now). Follow plailetc's guide for more info

It's luma that does the blocking. A9HL just allows for the cfw to be installed

I have a probleme with the luma cfw custom splash screen :c !
I put the splash.bin and the splashbottom.bin in the luma folder but the splash screen isnt appearing :C
can someone please help me with that ? ^^

See this option:
Splash: Toggle the splash screen (refer to the Other features and notes page) and choose if displaying it before launching payloads (this is intended for splash screens that display button hints) or afterwards.

Press SELECT while booting and change it.

But its still not visible :c. In settings i acitvated : Autoboot Sysnand , Use Sysnand Firm if booting with R (A9HL) , Enable ext. code loading , Show Nand or user strings , Show GBA boot screen.
