Do you know exactly what is wrong with the daughter board, or is a full replacement necessary? I mean worst case scenario I have to buy a bricked n3ds xl and replace the parts but I would like to repair it if at all possible.

I will check the part number when I am less frustrated and look at my board again.
The chip is not on the daughter board. It's on the mb, its a small ic chip below the power input.

It wont power on, but the charging LED does turn on for a couple seconds when I plug it in.
That is both the charging ic and the daugterboard right?

YES
the daughterboard is available in alibaba i'm not sure about the charge ic. (if the daughterboard's power ic is the same as the charge ic, theoretically you can buy 2 pcs and one to be transferred to the other.

What did you search on alibaba to find it?

Original D-Pad Power PCB new 3ds

search under consumer electronics

you can't charge, but at least you can turn it on.
I almost ran a jumper wire to charge the 3ds directly from the charge port to the battery mains, the tech guy said I should avoid it and let him do the tech work.

Alright. I replaced the daugterboard but now I have a different issue.

The blue light turns on for about a second then the bottom screen does a quick flash and it turns off.

What could the issue be?

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

edit:
I thought that this may have been an issue with my SD card reader because of the fact that it is similar, but I compared it to my A9lH 2DS and my A9LH o3ds without the SD cards in, and the isssue I am having is a lot more abrupt.
The no SD on 2ds/o3ds has a smooth power off light, while this one just turns on and instantly stops.

did you fiddle with anything flex and screen related?h

was this 3ds previously using a9lh?

One more thing to note.
I belive that it is charging even though it isn't turing on!

it would seem so but it is not charging even if you use a multimeter. it does that.

I can assure that it is charging. I tested the voltage, then charged, and the voltage raised.
I redid all the ribbons, but now the topscreen shows nothing. It powers on, and the bottom screen works fine. The top screen has a backlight but it does not show any image. You can also see that the SS3D is working still too.
A little odd, but now the only issue is my top screen.

Im having a similar problem to whats described here. I placed my battery in the wrong way after dismantling, and now my new 3ds xl won't turn on. Orange light turns on for a few seconds when connecting charger. Guessing I'd need to buy F1/F2 fuses. Which ones did you buy and from where ? Also, I see it's been mentioned that the 3ds may not recharge after. Could I buy a power ic for a DS/3DS console and use that ? The battery for the new 3ds xl is exactly the same as that for the 3ds xl. Maybe that info would help.

I've done the same stupid thing - wanted to test my N3ds XL before screwing it together, put in battery backwards and now I have the charging-light-with-red-blip when I try to turn it on—and that after a mighty fine work with the NAND cables, which I unsoldered while trying to find the problem. Will update in the thread with my experiences when I've received the charging board.
