Hi guys, I recently tried gateways 4.0 beta update. I realized in the middle of the process luma seems to be a better option. I got up until downgrading to 2.x. Can i go from part 5 of Plailect guide or do i risk bricking? Thanks

Just to make sure, you did try all the solutions in the Luma3DS wiki, right?
Link: https://github.com/AuroraWright/Luma3DS/wiki/FAQ-and-Troubleshooting

I guess, once we can clear those out. We can move to other solutions.
No, none of these apply :-(

GBA/DS games/DSiWare/Smash Bros/Monster Hunter 4 fail to start
DSiWare works fine (Four Swords) and I don't use a boot manager

Loading my payload results in a black screen
Can start fine, with or without SD card

I get a black screen on boot with an Old 3DS which has been downgraded from the Gateway menu in the past
No black screen on boot and not downgraded with GW, was brand new with 2.1.0.

I have issues with GBA/DS/DSiWare games and I have installed a patched AGB/TWL FIRM cia in the past
No patched AGB or TWL firm.

Hey guys, I got a EUR hardmodded n3ds that keeps getting bricked by the one click setup in the Plailect guide. It was region swapped, but I flashed it with a EUR nand backup before starting.

I tried installing the untouched twl_firm, just in case it had been messed with, but it still bricked so I don't think that's the problem. I've redone the whole guide, up to that point, multiple times.

I keep trying to boot without the sd, but no dice. I've installed a9lh on many 3ds's so idk what's going on. Any advice would be great.

Happen to see what the error is before it drops the Nintendo error on ya?

That's really odd. Did you try installing the AGB/TWL cia's tho, just in case? Have you tested multiple GBA games? and TWL is what handles DSiWare, so I guess your TWL is fine. Your AGB is what should be handling GBA. I think.

It did work after all. It was just taking a really long time! I tried Super Mario Kart, and it blackscreened too, I waited a little while and nothing happened for 30 seconds or so. I was about to give up and then I saw the little green 3D light turn off. Thought that was interesting and waited a little more - then it started up! Then Minish Cap did the same. Not sure why it was so slow, but glad it worked!

Another thing I wanted to ask:

I followed plailects guide and am using freeShop now. Is it safe to use other nintendo features now? Like streetpass, the browser, Design Shop etc. Can I do a Mii-Lobby update? Can I use a Nintendo ID? Also Pokemo Alpha Saphir, installed with freeShop, asks for an update an launch. Shall I do it?

Thanks :)

Hello, I just installed a9lh and I want to know if bad CIA installs that can mess up your 3DS is still a thing? Also can I play regular game cards without any issues? And regarding CIA games, is it better to install them through freeShop or FBI and which option is faster?

Sorry for all the questions, and thank you for your time.

There's always a chance it could mess up, but the risk is very low. If you're using freeshop, it's practically foolproof since it's the actual game directly from Nintendo servers.

There's a debate over which method is faster. Personally, I find freeshop the fastest. I queue the game for download, leave it and like 15 mins later it's done.

Game cards function like normal, there's no issues. You can also use a sky3ds or other flashcart like normal too.

Hello peeps.
I haven't been following the 3DS scene since 2013, so I am a little outdated.

I have an old 3DS XL with 4.4 official firmware and a Gateway 3DS.

What would be the best way to play the latest backups (like CIAs and all that other good stuff)? I'd like to check out the new Zero Escape game. I bought it on Steam, but I read that it plays better on 3DS/Vita.

Cheers.

Hello,

I have a M3i Zero v2_e2 that I have been using for a long time now but my DSLite is somehow failing so I thought I could use this with my new3DS.
I tried this https://gbatemp.net/threads/retrogamefan-updates-releases.267243/ but I can't find the proper firmware files. can someone help me find the most up to date firmware I can use on this M3i Zero ?

and, if I can do that, will it even work ? my n3ds is on 10.3.0-28e, I can access homebrew menu through menuhax and oothax. what will I have to install or change ?

sorry if this has been answered before, I spend my whole afternoon trying to figure this out...

If you have an emuNAND you have to format the card with emuNAND9 to get rid of it.

Follow https://github.com/Plailect/Guide/wiki if you want the latest and greatest, or you can just update your launcher.dat to the one from Gateway 3.7.1 and update your emuNAND to 11.0.

Just to be safe, I would restore your sys and emuNANDs. Kudos to you for figuring it out! :)
