He did much more than that, trust me. He just flooded every kind of service cell9 used (Github, his bug tracker, his Twitter account) asking for him to open-source the code. While it's outside our power to stop him from harassing cell9 on those sites, you'll be glad to know that we don't allow members with such antisocial behaviour to stay in this community.

If cell9 wants to go back to work on NTR's, that's up to him. We've done our part.

BTW, I'd like to remember that discussing of a certain individual being banned or not is actually off-topic and I'll start removing posts pertaining to that after this point.
Here-Here!! :grog::grog:

I would ban or suspend any person that harassed another member in such a relentless way. And yes previous behavior does count towards our decisions, it would not make any sense if it didn't. Make no mistake about it margen went out of his way to bother @cell9 and disrupt his social media and gbatemp feeds, and quite frankly what the fuck has margen ever done to benefit this community?

Let this be a lesson to all the wanabe 4channers out there, you will be gone from from this place if you do not respect your fellow members, our rules and our community.

Good riddance. :gun:

If Cell is going to continue with NTR (or even if he isn't), I recommend starting a new thread with the current version (3.4, isn't it?) and leave this whole mess to die in a locked thread. ^_^

@cell9 I am so sorry that you're getting shit from assholes who never learned to thank someone for a gift. Know that your work is appreciated and that I speak for the community when I say that we really are grateful for NTR CFW.

If I could ask for one thing, it would only be this: please don't give Margen67 power over your life. Despite harassing you non-stop, he doesn't actually want your source code. I mean, he's clearly dumber than a bag of rocks, so what is he actually going to do with your source? I'd be shocked if he could even compile it.

No, Margen67 is an obnoxious tit who wants control. He wants your time and attention, no matter how negative. He wants to be able to ruin your day. Something has gone so wrong for him, and to make himself feel better, this is what he does.

I'm not here to get you to change your mind about anything regarding NTR. You gave us something awesome, and I think you should do what will make you happy. As such, it would be a shame if your actions were dictated by Margen67 instead.

Yes, he used the word "blackmail", but please keep in mind that:

1. He said that he is not that fluent in English, so maybe he was just thinking "harassment" instead
2. We do not know all of the aspects of this, so let's not be judgmental

Anyway, people should still respect his choices even though they may find it exaggerated, otherwise that won't help making him come back.

I've been using shadowtrance's fork because I feel no need to stream, so I don't really care tbh. Seems like someone can't handle the Internet though.

I COULD be wrong, but as far as I know, Shadowtrance just worked on the BootNTR, not actual NTR CFW....it's just the loading script for NTR.

Again, feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. ;)

I never used NTR, and probably never will. That's not a knock on the product itself. It just not something I'm interested in. But those bashing cell9 do realise that it's his source and can do whatever he wants, for whatever justification he has.. Right?

What's with the sense of entitlement I keep seeing in gbatemp recently? Whether it's Hykem drama on the Wii u, or any of the other shit happening in the 3ds scene (too many to even mention), what's with that entitlement? No one owes anyone here anything.

If cell9 doesn't want to continue developing this, then so be it. It's his choice, and his source. He doesn't owe anyone anything. Instead you see comments sayings how much dramatic he was, and he's a baby for not sucking it up. As if he owes people something.

While gbatemp staff is great for letting people express their opinions and giving them people general space to do whatever, it has been taken advantage of. I think it's about time the staff enforces stricter rules around here. It certainly was more peaceful and nicer around here during the GBA, DS, and Wii days.

Sorry buddy but I have to interject here - it wasn't "more peaceful and nicer". The Wii scene was a mess ever since the rise of backup loaders (including GCN mode loaders like Devo/Nintendon't) and the DS scene has been a mess as well due to everyone being an elitist douche and saying 'muh card is better than yours'. It was mostly all about piracy every since Slot-1 flashcards.

By the way, just gonna drop this here, but does anyone know the reason these scenes are dead (other than age)? It's the fact that most stuff is completely closed source, also the reason why there's not much sudokuhax-compatible homebrew.

I don't want such thing to happen to the 3DS too.

I'm not talking about any discussion related to open and closed source. I always believe in open sourcing anything. The point I was trying to make is that it's not up to us to have what we want. Every dev has the right to do whatever they want with their work, even if we don't agree with it.

As for the Wii scene, it actually was mostly peaceful.. Nothing is perfect obviously, but I'm talking about it in general (I am talking about the days before nintendont and devolution).. Yes, people generally expressed their favorites in terms of back up loaders (us loader GX, wiiflow, cfg), but it never reached to a point where the 3ds scene (as an example) is at right now. Now it's more of a "option a is the best and you all have to agree with me or go kill yourselves".. Whether it's a cfw vs GW, or cfw a vs cfw b..

DS, well it was mostly flashcarts there, so in terms of devs, it was either homebrew, or something like AIO FW.. The only arguments that I have seen was what you said, card a is better than b. Though I think that was somewhat more understandable as they are both paid products. But again, it wasn't as ridiculous as it was now. As I said, nothing is perfect.

Seriously.. It's disgusting..

Why do people want it to be open source so much? What's wrong with him keeping his code to himself?

Like why does it absolutely need to be open source? He could just give it to Aurora Wright or something. Or sell it.

Because stuff like it requiring Firm 10.2 or lower could be improved on so latest firmwares wouldnt require firmware bin, it also means other devs could actually pick up and improve on the project which at most times is quite slow.

If another Firmware Update comes out that cannot boot from 10.2 firm that will instantly Kill NTR for most users for example

Yes, this is a legitimate reason to open source a project, but it doesn't mean one must keep pestering the developer(s) of the project to open source it. One of many ways of doing this is by gathering a small, devoted contributors, and internally peer-review the codes before distributing them as releases. Quality Assurance comes into play here, and therefore we can trust them to do their jobs.

There are many various reasons (sometimes, personal) not to do so, and we cannot take it for granted that they can disregard those reasons just to open source the project. Only the developer(s) can decide on the project to be open-sourced or not, and it is up to them.

In the end, if the developer(s) decide to open up the source code to the public, that decision will come naturally. And by naturally, it will definitely come when the time is right, and when the opportunity for it to happen is there.
