I expect that Decode will be faster than Re Digitize was. We already have a team and a set of tools, so we won't have nine months where we can't get anything done.

We're not in any way affiliated with that project, I actually only heard about it about two weeks ago. We try to stay at least relatively close to legal, and Project Ark, while awesome, sadly, is blatantly copyright infringing.

After having a quick look at Project Ark, I'm actually quite certain they're well within legal grounds with what they're doing. The models and textures are all custom made, none are ripped from any of the Digimon games and they aren't making money from the game. As far as I'm aware that's all that's required to make a fan game completely legal, although I could be wrong.

I wish it were that easy. Digimon as a concept is copywritten, as are each of the individual Digimon. They're using a trademarked term in the name. Although the textures and what have you are their own work, it's still a copyright violation for the same reason that I can write a new Harry Potter book without the author's permission. If they're lucky, Bamco won't sue them, but they definitely can, and if they do they'll win.

Well he did say "The patch I have is 1019mb big" so yeah he himself said his patch is that big XD
Well, to have someone on the team clarify, the patched ISO 1019 MBs. The patch is 3 MBs at this point. Also, since Kalker is one of our main editors, he generally knows what he's talking about.

The patch is roughly 3 MB. Depending on some internal things that are still up to discussion it might double in size but it certainly will stay under the 10 MB limit.

Just as I thought :) by the way sporky if project ark is violating for using the names then what about the digimobs project? (a minecraft mod that incorporate digivice, digital items such as food and items, digimon and even the names)

That's less likely to be sent a takedown since it's not an independent game billing itself as a Digimon game, but that is likely infringing as well, particularly if they include actual Digimon and call them such by name.

If they would just shut up and not talk to the company about the copy rights and treat it like every pokemon emulating game it would be fine. We could all enjoy something while being starved by japan.

Ikr instead they release stuff that you cant even access or would have to constantly pay just to properly play. I mean the PSP versions are good but they're still just that, PSP versions. A nice 3D free world PC version would be nice.

My guess would that most projects, including ours, do just that. It's just that some times companies decide to be proactive in defending what they see as their rights. It's why copyright needs serious reform. Best case scenario, you get a situation like the Type-0 patch had, where they're willing to negotiate. Much more common is that they go straight to the "fuck you, take it down" stage.

I know those games, they are great, but I hate playing with other people. we all know about the 3ds digimon release, I wish we gotten it but even the signatures were ignored. I really want a game looks like the D.S dusk and dawn, but the have digimon world game play. It would be fun and easy to make compare to all the 3d modeling, plus all digimon could be in it.

The company didn't even know about them, they went to talk to them to use the name instead of just renaming it to something better. I can see them being told to take it down, and forced to give up the data. Sorry for getting the thread of topic.

Hey Sporky, is that prediction that you made, that the patch would be done by early June, still on? Just want to know if I must be anxious or not xD

I rather enjoy a life of taking it easy. I haven't reached that life yet though.
