@SaulFabre I guess you haven't included my code? Individual settings handling seems to be working same as before.

Strange sound problem on Vib-Ribbon I've mentioned earlier seems to be fixed in last release (or, at least, I can't reproduce this bug anymore). But other problems are not fixed (yet?) - Return Fire still freezes after selecting weapon, Pro Pinball - Timeshock still work way too fast.

Have anyone experienced any problems with CHD/ZStrandard/FLAC files? I'm considering recompress all my CHD/Zlib/FLAC files (and compress those that are uncompressed yet), so I'm asking if anyone noticed any problem (and I know that CHD support, even with Zlib, is strongly improved in latest versions).

This also happens in WiiSX and even in the Wii Libretro core of PCSX-ReARMed, sadly.

Return Fire still freezes after selecting weapon
does this happens on upstream PCSX-ReARMed btw?

i think the most compatible CHD compression on Wii is ZStandard only, but people also reported that ZStandard+FLAC (which achieves a little more compression than ZStandard only) also work fine in most games.

Still no, btw.
If you want, i could compile a special build with your code change suggestion and i'll tell you here.

Thanks so much for this latest build of wiistation. The stabillity has been improved and runs better than ever. My only question is about some lines in vertical transitions, like if the emulation doesnt had activated vsync. Is anyone having this issues? I'm running wiistation in 240p mode with CRT TV, by component cable. Other emulators give me perfect 240p image with no image glitches.

you can download RetroArch on your PC, install the PCSX-ReARMed core in here using the Core Online Updater, and then try launching that game in the core for see if happens here too.
Yeah except that only RA 1.7.9 which is an old version seems to be the one that is the most stable and some cores modern cores dont work well there.

that has been a thing since the rebrand of Wiistation, whereas on WiiSX there seem to be gone.

If only stability could be improved instead of prioritizing other less relevant aspects or adding new plugins and so on that set back the improvement of emulator...
This is a general issue these days, not limited to Wiistation.
Take a look at most of the decomps that we had in the last few years. Before getting the games to run 100% with clean code, people start adding tons of features that make it impossible to properly debug and fix anything.
It also doesn't help that interest in Wii (and most retro consoles) is extremely limited.

What does this mean? Because it is necessary to read the HID INI (.ini) configuration file of the USB, it is always necessary to initialize the USB.
Maybe this fixes the issues of HID controllers that cannot be used if we're loading WiiStation from USB?

Tested the new build to see if the HID .ini file is read from the USB device (still Dualshock 3 054C 0268 in port 1, Wiistation on port 0)

... and it doesn't work.

The four leds continue to blink, and the controller does not respond. :(

Note: I noticed in the ini.file (https://github.com/xjsxjs197/WiiSXRX_2022/blob/main/Gamecube/release/controllers/054C_0268.ini) that the Home button is not set (is ist normal ? shouldn't it be Power=04,01 ? -that's the offset in HIDTest -)

Finally, I managed to make the PS3 controller work on the Wiistation, it only works via sdcard, it doesn't work via USB, what happened, I was using the Nintendo controllers folder and the nomenclature was different from the Wiistation, now it's perfect, I'll leave it here Complete, just play.
how did you manage to get it to work? Nevermind, figued everything out on my own. Thanks for the files though

Can I let us know what u did?

if by "Can I...." you mean Can you, :rofl2::rofl2::rofl2::rofl2::rofl2:then ok,

1. I checked whether PID & VID values corresponded to those of my controller
2. Then I just added the controllers folder to the required folder on the root of my sd card

and there you go, the controller got identified and worked right away

Now, the question is how to understand and convert what i see on HIDTest when I press buttons into corresponding values in an .ini controller config file. I wanna get a PS4 controller going too and I've made some progress, everything works, only couple of buttons left to be mapped

hello. some emulator updates do not respond to the gamecube controller or wiimote. I launch the games from Wiiflow. Could that be it? mention that I deleted the configuration files before putting a new update. thank you. all the best

So....what can be done to fix the awful frame stutter from current builds? really sucks cause i really love the new sound interpolation.
I feel that pain too, bro :P.

I'm using two builds, the last jokkipo's 2.4 fastest version that run SOTN smoothly. And the last 3.x for other games.

Yes. I noticed that recently. It isn't a vsync issue. It's a resolution issue. It doesn't happen on 2.4, though. I realized that issue in Chrono Cross, when walking from down to up or vice-versa. CC's native resolution is 320x216 (not 240), maybe it's the problem. I took two photos to show:

See the text on WiiStation v2.4:
photo1-WiiStation-v2.4.png

Now on WiiStation v3.2 (lines duplicated in the fonts):
photo1-WiiStation-v3.2.png

Again WiiStation v2.4 (See the circles):
photo2-WiiStation-v2.4.png

Now on WiiStation v3.2 (see the lines duplicated distorting the circles):
photo2-WiiStation-v3.2.png

These lines appear all over the screen when scrolling vertically the game, giving a general shimmering artifact. You can see that those lines are duplicated lines, like if the original 216 lines were upscaled to something like 224 or something.

EDIT: I just submitted the issue here: https://github.com/xjsxjs197/WiiSXRX_2022/issues/223
I hope it gets fixed some day!

Other thing I noticed on my crt is that after psx bios splash screen, a graphical glitch happens on screen just before the first game screen appear. It doesn't happen on v2.4, though. Only in new 3.x versions.

Besides that and microstutters in SOTN, 3.x versions are better in any other aspects and much more compatible. I want to thank @xjsxjs197, @SaulFabre, @Jokippo and other collaborators for this amazing achievement of making ps1 emulation a reality on Wii.

Return Fire still freezes after selecting weapon
I got Contra Legacy of War to work. Everything would work up to the character select screen where the controller wouldn't work at all after that. The music was still playing but nothing else was happening and I couldn't even hit "Home" on the classic controller to get back to the main menu. Had to hit reset on my Wii to get back to the Wiistation menu.

Found out that if I loaded the game, changed the controls to Analog, and then played the game, it would work and let me select the character and everything would work normally. Interesting thing is the game doesn't require or use analog controls at all.

Just a suggestion to try.

@Jayro, I don't see whats so special about the DS ML, its just a DS lite in a phat shell. At least the phat model had louder speakers, whereas the lite has a much better screen.

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.

@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
  • cearp @ cearp:
It's nice to not have to have a lot of physical things though, saves space
