If any1 had issue installing or launching the latest Tinfoil or issues with launching games, make sure you have latest hekate sigpatch and add these lines into ATMOS boot config in your hekate_ipl.ini

Code:
kip1patch=nosigchk
atmosphere=1

Example:
Code:
[ATMOSPHERE SYSNAND]
emummc_force_disable=1
fss0=atmosphere/fusee-secondary.bin
kip1patch=nosigchk
atmosphere=1
icon=bootloader/res/atmosphere.bmp

[ATMOSPHERE EMUNAND]
emummcforce=1
fss0=atmosphere/fusee-secondary.bin
kip1patch=nosigchk
atmosphere=1
icon=bootloader/res/atmosphere-emu.bmp

First time user here, the app is really good and I didn't run into any serious problems but I think the app could be more streamlined.
I think it would be very nice to be able to disable the dialogue prompts from added URLs for example "Eevee Save Project".
Also maybe I didn't look hard enough but instead of asking if a Gamecart should be installed everytime you open the app, there should be Tab or Button for it.

The UI is really nice and I understand that it's probably hard to fit so many functions into the left tab so that's my feedback.

Updated firmware install with some quality of life checks.

Due to arbitrary limitations implemented by atmosphere, for most people this will fail because atmosphere:

a) blocks writes to nand partitions from homebrew applications such as Tinfoil. With no way to disable. Atmosphere exempts itself for daybreak through a sysmodule exception.

b) atmosphere is configured by default to block nand writes. enable_hbl_bis_write must be set to 0x01

Running Tinfoil in applet mode and reconfiguring atmosphere will allow the install to complete. However the best approach is for someone to fork atmosphere to remove the bullshit.

If Tinfoil is unable to complete the FW install, it will copy the files sdmc:/firmwares/ and instruct the user to finish the installation using daybreak.

So, it auto-updates. How is this disabled or which domains / IPs need blocking?

Three main ways to disable auto-updating (you only need to do one):

1) Run the applet version (it does not auto-update).
2) disagree to the TOS in the Tinfoil app.
3) block DNS resolution for tinfoil.io and tinfoil.media.

While I'm at it, have there been any reports of issues installing via local FTP? E.g. games installing but failing on launch. Not sure if Tinfoil or something on my end.

No reports of that. Which game, and which system firmware are you on? The new Zelda game has been a common report of errors, it requires 11.0.1 I believe.

Various games, possibly all, Atmos. 0.19.3 with 12.0.1. I'm light on details as I've had the issue for a while and forgotten past instances. I thought it might otherwise be related to updating to 12.0.x. It's probably something that's changed with my setup, FileZilla Server or network, something with files being corrupted en route, I'll work it out.

Edit: Can't find a problem beyond the Switch. Hash was fine testing transfer to another device. Something is up on the Switch itself, with Atmosphere, Tinfoil, or whatever else.

So with this new version of Tinfoil do we get all the features that were previously locked behind an SX OS license or some features are still locked? I don't quite remember all the features that were locked but I really want to know.

Is it known if there is any telemetry in place? If I remember correctly the outdated "Tinfoil Mod" removed it. I'm kinda paranoid about that and am asking myself what data Tinfoil might collect and send to the tinfoil-domains like keys, certificates, installed software and so on?

    @SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

    A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

    anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

    if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

    Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.

    @BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM

  • cearp @ cearp:
    You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
    still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm

    i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds

    It's nice to not have to have a lot of physical things though, saves space

    @rqkaiju2, Physical media is a great source for archiving your data, none of that cloud storage shiz.
