ah, you are right. I thought "no hurry, I could play it in few months"
but then, I'll have to avoid all spoilers everywhere è_é

I might as well buy a switch and that game at release. (or train to avoid xeno related comments)
I'll just have to tag you with all of my Xenoblade 2 related musings. :)

Pre-ordered this with no idea what I'm getting into. It's gonna be my first Xeno-game since Xenogears on PS1, so that'll be interesting. :D
Do not judge the game with its battle system :P
A lot of people rejected Xeno Wii due to that, without giving it a chance for the story.
I think a lot of people expected a real action RPG (zelda like) where you can dodge an attack by moving away, but once you are in a battle you can't dodge. All the hit/dodge % is based on your level.

I just hope the story is long enough to enjoy it. Vast area to visit just for battles was boring in XenoX.

Personally, I was well aware that Xenoblade did not play like an action game. That's why it was my least anticipated Operation Rainfall game. I didn't get the hype surrounding it, but I gave it a chance anyways. Turns out it was far better than I could have hoped any of the Operation Rainfall games to be. The combat grew on me quickly, the story blew me away, and I really liked the characters and their chemistry.

oh, yeah, the rainfall op!
I didn't like the dungeon game. (even forgot its name) I never completed it, I think I played half.

But I liked both Xeno and Last story :D

Pandora's Tower. I enjoyed it. It was like a Zelda game that was all dungeons. I really enjoyed the boss fights in particular. I just wish they had a boss rush mode or at least allowed you to just go in and fight bosses. I'm particularly disappointed that we haven't really seen that studio (Ganbarion) get another chance to make a game. The way I see it was this was their first chance to let loose and make something of their own design and I thought they showed promise as a studio. The game wasn't perfect, but I'd like to see them do more and get better.

As for The Last Story, that's one that was pretty good, but could have been done better. The secret princess thing has been done to death. The love story aspect felt rather forced. It would have been nice to spend more time playing as different characters; it was a bit out of left field during the end-game when they decided to split the party up and then you were suddenly playing as a spell-caster when you'd spent the entire game as Zael. Also on that note, the final boss fight introduced a new game mechanic without telling you in requiring you to climb those cubes. I also recall not really liking any of the characters except Syrenne and Llowel. That said, my complaints didn't keep me from playing through the game more than once. I even went and acquired the collector's edition earlier this year.

I thought it was too bad the world wasn't detailed enough. it felt like a slice of life in an unknown world.

I liked (and got to liked, as it wasn't an option) english UK accent with this game.
I bought the collector edition at release day.

Yeah, the world they built seemed like the most interesting part. Would have liked to see them explore it a bit more.

From what I've read it's a bit like the FF12 battle system, right? I quite liked that one, so I might like this one as well. :D

Technical limits. Wii ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I believe that's why they swung around and focused so much on the world with Xeno X instead of the story. Kinda hoping they do a little of both with XC2.

yes, it's a little like FF12, where the players are automatically attacking at regular interval (ATB system), but you don't manage the action based on script. it's more active.
instead of scripting fights like FF12 (less than 30% HP do this, else do that, etc.) and where you only access items if needed, in xenoblade you choose from skills to cast which refills with time.
you also have quick event element (press B at right time to trigger combo, etc.)

I dunno about technical limits so much as game design decisions. Also just so we're clear, Cyan and I were talking about The Last Story there, not Xenoblade.

I don't really have any critiques of the original Xenoblade. Before I finished it, there were some story elements that initially I didn't care for, but as the story continued to unfold I realized that it had to happen that way.
