I'm going to scream.
RYZEN. IS. BETTER.
Ugh...
I don't see how you can say this. From the actual specs of the chips, they both look about equivalent with Intel stock speeds being higher but AMD having more cores. Overclocking clearly puts Intel in the lead over AMD with the 6700k at 4.5ghz being very common versus 1600x only going up to 4ghz.

Almost all of the benchmarking websites place them about equal. Until you can prove me wrong and give me definitive evidence that AMD's 1600x is better than the 6700k, I'm going to call you out on this bullshit and claim it as delusional fanboyism instead.

I'm not going to argue that if you are doing multi-cpu heavy things like rendering images (read streaming) that the 1600x is better, but for a focus on gaming, Intel clearly seems to either be on par, or wins this competition.

My tip to the OP is go for whichever setup lets you spend the least money. Nowadays an SSD and 16 GB of ram is more important than the debate between chips.

Instead of wasting more money on something which automatically has voided warranty after overclock, you can get something even better which even puts Intel to shame.

You still haven't thrown in any actual evidence. Bring it before slinging it. Stop being a fanboy already. I already stated they perform the same even without overclock.

Now I'm a fanboy for pointing the truth which has been proven to be true. m'kay

Such a troll. I have yet to see evidence of this self proclaimed truth. Stop being a snake oil salesman and bring results. Time to ignore the deluded.
How about instead of bickering we wait and see how the new Intel chips do and see if AMD fires anything back? @smileyhead already said he's still saving up money and plenty of stuff will probably happen in the next few months in both gpu and CPU.

An i7 won't work with am4 lol
while I did forget to update Intel to AMD, idk where you got the idea that I was gonna use the two at the same time from
Holy crap OP. The prices in HUF are total murder. Is that because of VAT taxes?
I have no idea. I wish stuff was cheaper.

I already said OP should go for the cheaper option after everything is considered. I would just want to prevent OP from being misguided by bullshit without evidence, which is what he was throwing around.

I can actually agree on this point, even if for the reason of prices dropping by about $50. With both CPU and GPU coming out soon, we are going to see the annual drop in prices, which alone makes waiting worthwhile when on a budget.

I'll be continuing to use my laptop's 1T SSD.
I thought the person who posted the pcpp link was the op, sorry for the confusion.

It's because of mining, prices have come down some, but still haven't dropped to where they should be.

Intel Communith Site said:
  • Overclocking voids your standard processor warranty. Intel encourages customers to consider purchasing an Intel® Performance Tuning Protection Plan (PTPP) if they chose to overclock their processor. The PTPP provides warranty coverage for most overclocking scenarios. The details on the PTPP are available at Home Page
  • Intel does not guarantee that a processor will be able to achieve any specific speed when overclocked.
  • Intel will not be able to advise or assist customers with the overclocking process. Please consult your desktop board manufacturer on recommended system settings.

I was aiming to create a gaming computer that can run modern games decently (as my current laptop is starting to fall behind (~20 fps in Owerwatch on lowest settings, ~15-20 fps on GTA V lowest settings, ~20-25 fps in PayDay 2, you get the drill)) and is also somewhat cheap. If you have any suggestions, please share.

CPU AMD - Ryzen 5 1600X 3.6GHz 6-Core Processor
Cooler Cooler Master - Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler
Motherboard Asus - STRIX B350-F GAMING ATX AM4 Motherboard
Memory Corsair - Vengeance LPX 8GB (1 x 8GB) DDR4-2400 Memory
Video Card Gigabyte - GeForce GTX 1060 3GB 3GB Windforce OC Video Card
Power Supply Corsair - VS 450W ATX Power Supply
Wireless Network Adapter TP-Link - TL-WDN4800 PCI-Express x1 802.11a/b/g/n Wi-Fi Adapter
Monitor Asus - VS228H-P 21.5" 1920x1080 Monitor
Case NZXT S340 Mid Tower Computer Case

CPU Intel Core i5 5200U @ 2.20GHz
Cooler Built-in cooler
Motherboard ASUSTeK COMPUTER INC. X555LB
Memory 8,00GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 798MHz
Video Card
- Intel HD Graphics 5500
- 2047MB NVIDIA GeForce 940M
Power Supply idk, stock one?
Sound Card Realtek High Definition Audio
Wireless Network Adapter Broadcom 802.11n Network Adapter
Monitor Generic PnP Monitor (1366x768@60Hz)
Case Original case
i5-6600K is a better value for money than i7-6700. Ryzen is also a good choice.
And you might want to go with 16 GB RAM instead. 8 GB is the bare minimum you should get these days but 16 GB will be more future proof and better for multitasking (such as playing games with a browser open)
If you have spare RAM slots you can always upgrade later when you need to though.
I would get a better GPU, at least a 1070. It doesn't cost a lot more but it will give you that extra power needed to run current games at high/ultra.
I would also get a better PSU, so you have room for upgrades later on (you will probably need a better one to use a 1070 anyway)
And why not a bigger monitor? A decent 24" monitor is dirt cheap these days.
Also, get a wifi card with 802.11ac. Seems like that will be the go-to wifi standard for a long time, as 802.11ad isn't really viable for most people since it can't even go through solid objects, basically requiring an AP in each room.

Stock coolers are usually junk, and the 212 EVO is a damn good budget cooler.

If you could swing it, even a 6GB 1070 would be a noticeable upgrade for games that require lots of VRAM (GTA V, a modded Skyrim SE, etc.), although at 1080p I don't know that it'll matter much.

@smileyhead , you should listen to this suggestion. Many games are coming out which require more VRAM, including techniques to make the game faster which also require VRAM. I would suggest future proofing your video card by getting a 6GB card if possible. This is especially important if you don't want to have to upgrade your card again if you decide to go larger than 1080p.

@Felek666 Intel does indeed state that overclocking voids your warranty, but their Performance Plan is nothing more than an insurance policy in case you fry the CPU. I would not buy it. Really, just overclock the CPU, have a robust cooling setup, and keep CPU temp lower than 50C and you'll be fine.

Still, it's dumb of them. AMD doesn't have anything like that so.. that's why i'm recommending them
