When I first tried usbmc, it was at release/v4 vpk. I think earlier revisions had issues with USB mounting. v4 is working for me on Vita TV.

(ugh, guess this plugin is not for me...............I have games on the vita memory card, and games on the usb stick................All I want is to use Vitashell to mount the USB Stick without having to unplug and replug in the device.....................I want to leave the usb stick plugged in, but I don't want it automounted at start up..................I want to decide when it is mounted from vita shell, without having to unplug an replug the device in)

  1. Make sure your USB storage drive is formatted to a single FAT, FAT32, or exFAT partition using the MBR partition scheme.
  2. Install the vpk
  3. Run usbmc to start the installer
  4. Press X to install the plugin.
  5. Reboot
*****Now you can use the USB storage as extra storage. (Does this mean, the USB Stick will not AUTOMOUNT at Startup, but I get to mount it from vitashell when I choose, I have games on vita memory card (ps1/psp), and 128 USB Stick)

(Software like this is causing bricks in Henkaku Enso by modifying the startup file that is used, that includes using any plugins at all that are loaded during startup, as reported by some other users, any help thanks)

(EDIT) (Any Help Please Thanks, I don't mean to be rude)

It will mount USB from booting up. To use your memory card just go to vitashell and click unmount USB. To remount USB again just go back into vitashell and click mount again.

Software like usbmc is not causing bricks. If there's any problem, these plugins can be disabled by holding down the L-trigger during boot.

Thanks a F*** Load.................Really Thanks, I will only plug in the USB Stick when I want to play vita games on my usb stick, so it automount when I startup, as you know "standby does not seem to work with everything".................I still plan on using my vita memory card 64gig, and also, I'm using the pstv.

This would be a much bigger issue with a real vita, since battery life and overheating are much bigger issues, so, I'm sure nobody wants to keep the usb stick plugged in all time, believe me I would just to avoid having to unplug and replug the stick back in using the old method with vita shell. Now as you said, all I have to do is Unmount it from Vita Shell after startup if I'm not already using it for a game on my usb stick.............I have games on both the vita memory card and usb stick

(Price Wise, I rather have the vita memory card 64 gig and usb stick 128 gig, then a simple 256 gig usb stick...............I don't like all the games on the vita, and certainly not enough to warrent a singular purchase of a mega sized memory card LMAO)

I'm totally with you, dude. I got a PSTV within the past few weeks. So freaking cheap. Great investment. Now with this auto-mounting? This is easier than Wii U hacking at this point. It's advanced so much. Very proud of the coders for achieving this stuff.

Are you getting a SD2Vita for your Vita and/or PSTV? At first I wasn't thrilled with it because it doesn't come in a cartridge/protector type of setting, and the whole thing seemed a little haphazard, but the more I see videos on it and the more I think about the fact that I'm rarely taking the cards in and out, it seems like more and more of a good idea. Then, we can finally close the chapter on that stupid proprietary Sony format FFS. Good riddance.

Works Great.

(Installed the "usbmc_installer.vpk", using vita shell without the USB STICK plugged in the pstv (my usb stick already has games and stuff on it, wouldn't want to risk autoformatting my usb stick) ........... after the program finished, I went to the context manager and uninstalled the program "usbmc". Then I plugged in the USB STICK, and restarted the pstv, and after that, I went into Vitashell and the usb stick was mounted, all I had to do was press Triangle and then mount it to "ux0 (uma0 first then ux0)", and I can avoid having to unplug and replug it in every time like before....................this way is great, at least I get to choose when to play from usb stick, because I use the vita memory card too, great job)

(SD2Vita..............Yes eventually, along with the software that lets you use a ps3/ps4 controller on it, i use a ps4 controller on the pstv.................in the future I plan to by a broken one from ebay and refurbish it (I fixed one psp with a broken screen and another one with a broken power button, got the broken unit and supplies to fix it from ebay, both were psp 2001 models...............before the holidays I plan try to fix a vita handheld)

So I did this process and everything works fine, except for the fact that I cannot load Adrenaline anymore. My adrenaline was first installed on internal memory on the PSTV. Then I copied all internal memory files to uma0. When I mounted my USB device as ux0, I could load Adrenaline without a problem. Now that my USB is automatically loaded as ux0 on boot, the same Adrenaline on the USB cannot load. Any suggestions?

Use adrenaline easy installer and do a fresh install cause the config file needs changing

So I'm a bit confused, is this used for USB thumb drives to load your hands from, or just for storage of Misc files? Just curious because I have a vita tv that I never use

I remember from the PSTV noob installation guide linked on these forums that I should NOT have my USB plugged in while using Adrenaline easy installer. Have you tried this yourself?

This is for using a USB thumb drive as a replacement for a memory card. What I have done is place my dumped games on it and they load perfectly.

Sure, but hacking the 3DS is like a "choose your own adventure". Just reading the guide will take you half an hour. Maybe it's easier now but I remember when you have to downgrade to 9.2 then to 2.1 then do some patching and then upgrade back to 10.x. Each time requiring a full NAND restore. And tools have language full of jargon (sysnand? CIAs?) and options you have to choose. The guide would have to tell you which option to pick. Like wtf. If we made it, everything would be one click and written in english.

Meanwhile if you want to run homebrew on the Vita, anyone who knows how to visit a website can do it in 30 seconds.

If you want to pirate on the Vita though it's more complicated but that's because pirates write shit code.

FYI it's nowhere near that complex anymore. If all you want to do is run homebrew on 3DS (which would be a good comparison to vita hombrew?), You put a sound file and the contents of a zip on your SD and play the sound file on the 3DS and that's it you're done.

The more complex things are still pretty simple, but will remain individual steps probably until EOL when someone puts in the effort to make a "one-click" installer.

Yeah I know what you mean. The way I see it is that a couple of really smart folks wrote powerful all-purpose tools and then other people just took those tools, wrote down the right options and steps and the Guide became a bible. At the end of the day it's a bunch of humans blindly following a long list of complicated instructions written in jargon that nobody understands with tonnes of conditionals, repeating steps, etc... Basically making humans do tasks that computers are designed for.

3DS hacking has become a religion/cult because of how hard it was to install a9lh. Nobody understands the Guide but everyone preaches its truth to unenlightened folks. You're supposed to follow the instructions herein blindly and without question. Any deviance will be punished and the sinner excommunicated.

Have you looked at the guide any time recently? it's immensely easier now so long as you're on 11.3 or lower.

Now installing b9s is just a matter of being on the right version, drop some files on your SD card, and press some buttons. The rest is sugarcoating.

The reason it was so complicated in the a9lh, was because a9lh was a fundamentally convoluted flaw (where the safest option was to downgrade to get console-unique secrets), and having to support 11 major system versions and multiple entrypoints, etc, didn't help. You Vita scene guys have it easy, with only one version and entrypoint to handle, and it's a good thing.

A lot of people come asking for help in Discord assistance channels, all the time. If you followed the guide it's naturally easier for your issues to be troubleshooted successfully.

I really don't get it, I tried with 3 different USB keys which perfectly mounted when I use VitaShell, they never get mounted by this plugin.
Anybody else got this kind of issue?
