You can't remember that the update folder was called "update"?

.. Ok then
Why do people argue just for the sake for arguing?

Yes, if for some reason in 5 year's time I need to change the folder back, there is a good chance I won't remember if the folder was called update or something else, or even what parent folder it was supposed to be in.

This is an easy way to tell if you ever have the need.

Also, what does it matter to you? Live your life, my friend.

While I agree on your efficiency point, i'm just trying to provide an answer, I don't feel like I have to provide an alternative method to everything and instead would rather just answer his or her question.

Calm down. I'm not arguing anything nor do I care what you do to your system. Nor am I going to argue the fact that you can easily look it up.

Your initial reply had nothing to do with the claim. The claim was the folder can be renamed. The fact is, it can not. The action @iAqua spoke of deletes the folder and creates a new one. If you still want to do that, great! I'm just correcting that piece of info.

Now calm down yeah? :)

I think the main reason for it being pointless is that u have to download the folder, rename it, delete the original folder, and then reupload the new folder. several more steps when u'd have to do the same thing if u were going to rename the folder back. if u could rename it in the NAND, that would be something, but apparently u can't.

Sure, I was merely clarifying that point, nothing more

is it through some kind of recovery? because the game doesnt prompt for a sys update it just loads the game

don't know. I was spoofed on 5.3.2 to 5.5.1, and I just updated online. I'd imagine the same with the wii u. u may need the physical disc to update though.

if u have multiple hdds plugged, that could be throwing it off. ftpii everywhere can only scan usb01. though, with your problem, r u sure u have the right ftpii everywhere? there r two versions, one being for cbhc only.
So I found out my problem. You have to use Mocha. I don't know why, but I guess Mocha gives more permissions over things than just plain Haxchi.

ea I have the disk. but it doesnt prompt for sys upodate

maybe due to being spoofed to a higher version? I would think the system would find outdated titles, then force an update. which game r u using?

oh, yeah, I had forgotten about that. it can be pretty stingy - must be usb01, use use mocha or cbhc, and must use the version that relates to your hacking setup (i.e. cbhc or mocha). I personally use cbhc's ftpii everywhere, and it works without issues. :P

I'm assuming after spoofing and disabling updates that DNS can be disabled since the Wii U can't download updates (assuming they ever release another one)

just dance 2017

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

If I use a modded wupinstaller that allows anything to be installed and do a version bin of 5.3.2 will it brick me, or just flat out deny it? If it does the latter can I use that patching thing program first? like the one people use for DLC tiks and the like?

No guys. The problem is simple really, but I guess you didn't know about it.

There are 2 versions of ftpiiu_everywhere. One by dimok to use with mocha (Which is what you have), and one by fix94 to use with haxchi/cbhc (you can find it in the op of haxchi's thread)

So the reason it worked for you in mocha is that you have mocha version, plain and simple :)

Someone help me please, I am new to this.

I was using the browser exploit and the cfw booter to load the fw.img. Thats my whole setup.
What is the best way to get started again? I am ok with offline play. I am on 5.5.1 and removed my WLAN settings on the Wii U.
As I read, the best way should be to install haxchi (or even coldboot haxchi?), which requires me to go online and enter the eshop with my Wii U and buy a DS game.
But how do I enter the eshop without auto-update to 5.5.2?
You say I can spoof the Wii U to 5.5.2. FIRST I disable updates (by deleting the update folder (isnt that risky? I mean if I want to create that folder later, will it still be created with the same rights?) AFTER THAT I use your package on pastebin, is that correct?
But I still have to use the Browser Exploit for both steps in the first place, which requires me to connect my Wii U to the Internet.
I heard reports, that even with DNS block the Wii U makes an auto-update after all.
So do I have to do the self-hosting to delete the update folder to be 100% safe?
Thanks in advance
