Good morning. I set up CFW over the weekend. I was on 11.2, and I updated to 11.4 after, which I believe is only updated on emuNAND if I understand that correctly. My question is: do I need to downgrade my sysNAND to 9.2 or lower still? I want to get a flashcart and do some things with that.

And I suppose a followup question: is the Gateway pretty much the flashcart to get, like it seems to be?

Thanks!
If you have CFW, you don't need Gateway, or any other 3DS flashcart (a flashcart is still needed for DS games). And if you followed the guide in the last year, you won't have an emuNAND. If you downgrade your system you won't be able to play newer games anymore, and there's no benefit to be had.
For games, install freeShop or download games in cia format and install with FBI.

I was interested in the TWLoader for NDS stuff, which seems to require a flashcart, which is why I ask. I've got all that other stuff down.

Ok, why are you asking about Gateway and emuNANDs? You don't need to worry about either of those things :-)
TWLoader is for launching very old DS flashcarts. If you get a good flashcart to start with then you won't need TWLoader. People around here usually recommend the R4i 3DS Gold from memory.

Okay. The description of TWLoader wasn't quite clear. But I ask about those things because in reading about the flashcarts, Gateway in particular, they say they only work on <9.2 (the R4i you mention says <4.5!). Is that just for stock 3DS?

Thanks for your help so far, by the way.

Hi everyone, I need a bit of help. Some time ago, I hack my cousin's 2ds (downgrade to 9.2, homemenuhax and luma) and this weekend he is going to visit me so I wanna install b9s in his 2ds. Do I need to install first a9lh and then b9s or it's possible to do it without doing a9lh?? if it's possible, could anyone tell me how or post the link
Thanks

I CANT UPDATE!?

i have dns on auto, and tried multiple times but get an error.

"An error has occured. Unable to update. The system will now restart"
It does this before even getting 1 percent.

9.2 (b9s with luma 8.0) trying to update.

Any tips?

You should be able to use the browser method on all the ones less than 9.0, if they have browsers (look at the last number in the firmware). For the 9.x one, the browser method will probably also work of it is on 9.2 or less (with a browser). SoundHax is probably mentioned as the way to go with 9.0+ because it is easier.
Is there any reason to update any of them prior? Will I be missing out on anything?

You'll be updating then after installing CFW. If you update any of them to the latest firmware that will make it very difficult for you (now you need to use a second already hacked console). If you update any of them too high with a cartridge then SoundHax might not work and now you'll need to buy a copy of Freaky Forms Deluxe or Cubic Ninja. Don't update them unless you're updating because you're trying to get them to an easier exploit.

What happens to all of my dlc that was downloaded from the free shop when I do a system transfer? If I re download the games, then download dlc again, will I be able to use JKSM to get all of my progress back?

-Thanks

Yes you can do all that. You might get an error when you try to link its NNID again - the console thinks it is connected to the target NNID. I think this can be overcome by holding X+Y when the error message is showing. Nintendo may or may not agree to move the NNID, but if they do then yep you can get all the NNIDs back where they belong.
Okay, so I completed the guide. Did a system format, restored the latest sysnand backup using godmode, and when I went to the homescreen all the homebrew apps (Luma, hblauncher, FBI, themely, etc.) were all gone! The only difference is that I got back the DSiware game (Sudoku).

That's weird - the SD card backup matches the NAND backup right? The apps should have come back in that case. But there's no problem, you can just install them again by following most of https://3ds.guide/finalizing-setup

This was a bad question... What I really wanted to know is how does JKSM and dlc work?

That is probably because I backup'd the NAND before updating Luma to 8.0.

Anyways, I fixed the problem somehow and I now have my NNID that was originally on my stock 3DS before the system transfer, as well as the homebrew apps back! Thanks a lot for your help!!!

Hello everyone, I generally don't ask questions, but at this point I'm stumped. Recently my friend tried to hack her 3ds, unfortunately something went wrong when she was in firmware 4.5. She attempted to fix this by formatting the 3ds, unfortunately all that did was remove all the files she already put into it. I'm currently over at her house attempting to update her 3ds to 11.4. I'm unable to do so though, due to the fact that whenever we attempt a system update, it says something went wrong. I haven't been able to find a solution, so I'd be forever in debt to whoever solves my problem.

Hey all

I just recently purchased a Supercard DSTWO PLUS (DSTWO+) from nds-card.com I mainly bought it for my DS Lite but I was considering in using it if I decide to purchase the N2DSXL
When the New 2DS XL comes out, has it been confirmed if we will be able to use Home-brew on it if I own this FlashCart?

Can you tell us exactly what she did? Was she following https://3ds.guide, and if so, what step did she get up to on what page, and how long ago did she follow it?

The N2DSXL comes on 11.4 firmware, so you'll need a second, hacked console, or a hardmod. If NTRBoothax comes out then you might be able to use the DSTwo, but you'd still need a way to flash it. That would be with another, hacked 3DS or a PowerSaves (this isn't definite, we won't really know until it is released).

She got to the point where she needed to use browserhax to install luma. I should've been more specific though, we're not really looking for a way to finish it, just to update the 3ds/

Guys I have followed the steps on 3ds.guide and successfully switched from Gateway to Luma, merging my old EmuNAND with my SysNAND. At the very last step, where I used Luma Updater to update Luma to the latest version, it asked if I wanted to use CTR something and I picked no, because I have no idea what it is. I said disabling CTR functionalities and finished the setup.

Did I do something wrong? I mean nothing is broken as far as I can see but is CTR a better option or is it required for anything? Thanks.

Do you mean somewhere in https://3ds.guide/installing-boot9strap-(browser)?It's not really possible to help if we don't know what could be wrong with the console.
